this is a topic near and dear to me and the parents of 12,500 kids every year, childhood cancer. Number ONE killer of kids from disease, more than from asthma, diabetes, cystic fibrosis, congenital anomalies, and pediatric AIDS combined. Horribly underfunded, less than 3% of all cancer funds go toward the kids. You can't just 'downsize' cures for the kids because they are still developing, growing and take more air, water and food per unit body mass than adults, in essence they are NOT little adults.
We lose 3000 kids every year. Like my 14 year old son AJ this January 5, 2008. Happy, healthy, athletic, smiling....looking forward to high school. Diagnosed with Burkitts on Fathers Day 2007. So, now I fight back. PLEASE click the logo and sign the Petition! Its quick, simple, and the kid you help save may be yours......
Dear AJ's Dad,
I have signed the petition. Thank you for bringing it before us! I am deeply sorry for your loss. I also lost a very dear little friend to brain cancer. He was 6 years old. Children should not have to deal with cancer. Cancer should not steal the lives of children. I am able to deal with my mortality as I am 52 years old and have had a wonderful life. It's the kids that really get to me. My sympathies are with you. Thanks for your fight on behalf of other families. God bless you.
Thanks Blessed.......I tend to agree with you on children NOT having to deal with mortality. Like you, at 53 I would be able to accept it, and have accepted in in my grandparents and parents......but with AJ it was just too much. It has to stop.......thanks for your kind words
AJ's Dad, I signed the petition as well. My family lost my sweet 7 year old nephew to Neuroblastoma 4 years ago after he fought for over 4 years. He should never have had to go through all he did, it was heartbreaking. In my own cancer adventure, although he was gone, he gave me strength. I knew that if that baby could go through all he did at such a young age, I could get through my journey and be stronger for it. Thank you for posting this, our children are our future and we need to find a way to help and protect that future.
