After reading the Omnivores dilemma this now gives me the exact visual of what he was talking about... very scary.

if you watch the film EATING by mike anderson, you will never eat animal foods again, i swear. i think all the resources it takes to make that kind of food really destroys the environment.

is that to be our legacy as a species- that we had tons of resources and allocated them foolishly?

I am trying to figure this out. I saw sad cattle feedlots. I am a vegan and abhor everything that has to do with eating animals. Was there some explanation or is your message just to zoom in and see the feedlot? Everyone knows there are feedlots. So, was there a message that you had written to go with this zoom in? I wish they would provide shade for those poor animals. For a few dollars, they could build a shade hut with a tarp roof and relieve them from the over 100 degree heat that those abused animals are forced to endure.

Do I have a message? The image is the message. I disagree that not everyone knows there are feedlots. Granted, the members here are more aware, but most Americans still think cows live at Happy Farms. And for those who are familiar with feedlot images, I've never seen something that really gives a sense of the massive scale of these things. And the interactive part is just cool.

Brian, I think it is great that you are making people aware. Also, I want them to see that there is no, nada, zip, shelter. That means over 100 degree heat, rain, wind etc. They walk around in their own excrement. Maybe you could add a factual description with your cool interactive so people will realize how tortuous it is. People on the street can get up and walk away. These poor animals are mistreated from birth, injected with hormones that force them to overeat, live in filth, injected with too many antibiotics etc. They also feed ground up dead cattle as feed which some believe is what causes mad cow disease.Then we wonder why we get so many "mysterious" diseases. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

WHAT A HORROR WHAT A DIFFERENCE WHERE IN JAPAN BEEF COWS ARE TREATED LIFE ROYALTY.. WE TREAT EVERYTHING WITH DISDAIN. AND WHAY SITS BADLY WITH ME IS WE HAVE HUMANS ON THE STREETS BEING TREATED AS BAD AS THESE CATTLE. BOTH THINGS SHOULD STOP. ONE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE OTHER.. BUT FOR SOME REASON THEY ARE TIED IN MY HEAD.. THANKS FOR THE EDUCATION. CALLIE
