UPDATED POST:Prayers For Our Texas, Louisianna, Mississippi, Gulf Coast Friends

Hey CSL Members,
Hurricane Ike is through Texas, Louisianna and Mississippi. Let's circle our wagons and send our thoughts, prayers and well wishes to those in the affected areas. Thankfully loss of life has been minimal so far, lets believe it will take no more life!

The storm is showing its full wrath and moving like a tsunami bringing flood water inland into downtown Houston, previously flooded areas of Louisianna and Mississippi and other areas of the Gulf Coast. Rescue efforts are being hampered by wind, water and waves.

FOR THOSE IN THE TEXAS AREA, PARTICULARLY BETWEEN GALVESTON AND HOUSTON, BOILING YOUR DRINKING WATER ADVISORY HAS BEEN ISSUED. BOIL TAP WATER AT A ROLLING BOIL FOR AT LEAST ONE MINUTE BEFORE CONSUMING!

Our fellow American and CSL posse in the affected areas need us tonight. Let's not let them down. Whatever your faith, let's put it into practice. It's rubber meets the road time! Wagons Ho!

My prayers are with them, may they be safe in throughout the storm and during the clean up.

I was watching news reports where people were being interviewed who told their stories, where the police told them they were facing "certain death". Here is a recap of the segment in print. The police are now requiring the writing of the SS #s and their names for ID purposes. Pretty scary! http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,421742,00.html

My prayers are with them tonight, and through the aftermath of the storm. May God protect & guide them all to safety.

This is insanity. God bless the first responders who stay to rescue those who remain behind by necessity or frankly, like here, questionable stupidity...
Here is an article from CNN about why a dad would not evacuate with his two sons:

Susan Candiotti

How do you explain why a father would think he could ride out a storm with his teenage children?
On the island called Surfside Beach, a father did just that. Police finally convinced him to get out and all three got on a couple of jet skis with their two dogs.
The dad didn’t want to talk about it and sounded cavalier when I asked him why he waited til waves were chest high to get out. “The surf is great,” he told me offhandedly.
About a dozen rescue workers risked their lives to get them out of harm’s way. A police sargeant shook his head. “We beg ‘em and beg ‘em to leave and then they cry for help.”
Go figure. How can a dad put his children’s lives at risk?

This sounds like one hell of a scary storm ! I know I keep hearing them say on the news that those who stay face certain death, it really is so scary. My prayers and thoughts are with everyone and lets hope that most of the people were smart and evacuated. I still have nightmares from what happened during Katerina.

I'm all the way inland in Houston and it's still scary....
no rain yet
plenty of wind
the really scary part was earlier when the sun was still shining. I went outside to put my plants in the garage. I was working for about five minutes before I realized something was wrong....just got a really creepy feeling even though the sun was shining and the sky was blue. Then I realized where the odd feeling came from...it was waaaaayyyy too quiet and still outside. No birds, no bugs, no dogs barking....really creepy.

Thanks for the prayers.. and we are certainly praying for everyone. God Bless you all in Houston.. and Galvaston.. if you see vans with BasicMissions.. or just Basic on the side when the storm is over drop in and say hi... there are not many of us.. but we are in it together.. we will be heading your way on Monday.. again.. I have road burn on my tooshie.. I swear.. here the flooding is just minimal but it is about a foot in houses on the beach and biloxi ms. has two feet of water in all the casino on the beach and the homes are in danger in dauphin island and gulf shores so I pray the levees hold in new orleans and All are safe.. Our lovely Rhonda, Leslie and Bren are in the houston area so we are sending them tons of love and prayers and light. Callie

I think time dims our memories. My heart is breaking tonight. We may never pass this way again, so let us love...let us remember and never, ever forget. Your Sister, Bren
