Okay, I will probably get blasted for this but I really do want to understand. The Republicans have become either about corporations or religion. The original conservatives who were all about government staying OUT of our lives and who even STARTED conservation and were PRO women's liberation are not even what this party is about anymore. So where did they go? I have heard they are becoming libertarians. So if you are a true conservative, why vote Republican which doesn't even stand for what it is supposed to?
We need to end the bi-partisan system period. It divides and no longer serves its purpose. Just look at the blogs on this site. But moolah, the almighty dollar is in control, it will take a lot of power and money to ignite the Libertarian party. Unfortunately, right now, if you vote in a national election that way, its pretty much a "wasted" vote. I pray that we can rev it up. The division is driving me nuts. I don't fit in completely to either party. That's why I'm an independent. Voting is a personal choice, depending on the candidates at the time. It not always a full ticket decision on the other levels, that is a misconception about conservatives. Not all vote republican all the time. But unfortunately, we are judged that way,. Therefore, at least for me each candidate is judged and should be judged on their own merits. Bren
Yes, I agree. I am actually a green party member who voted for Nader in the Clinton years. Not because I even thoroughly loved Nader but because I wanted to support a third party and help revolutionize the system and I didn't love Clinton enough to vote for him.

I am registered as "unaffiliated" as I don't want to even give the appearance of belonging to ANY party -- and I have never belonged to any of 'em since I registered to vote 36 years ago.
I agree with Bren, a vote for a third party is a wasted vote. If you ask me people like Nader have done nothing but screw up elections, I was disgruntled when I heard he was running again. However it doesn't seem like he has much momentum this election, and i'm pleased with that. Ha! I just went to his website, he isn't even on the ballot in my state. I wonder what I've just said is going to be quoted and blasted... that always amuses me.
I say, lets do away with the republicans (please! hehe!) and the democrats, dissolve congress, install me as King Austin the Kind and I will rule the land with peace, love, and veggies for all! Hip hip hooray!!!! I'll need a court jester straightaway, anyone interested?
Jennifer, you rock! I'm quite interested to see what people have to say one this one! Y'all honestly, i'm not a democrat... it says so on my profile. I'm further left of them... haha!
austin, you sound like me. i've always wanted to be dictator of the world. was it plato who said htat a benign dictatorship was the only efficient form of government?
Unfortunately I have become disillusioned with Nader since the Clinton years, but I still totally respect people for voting for him and any third party because the more and more votes the third party gets, the faster we will change the system.
