My Crazy Sexy Life

Is anyone else feeling the vibe? The dang world is falling apart and I am still trying to figure out the canser thing. Add to that my profession has recently sunk into quick sand (real estate) and well, I say ka ka to all of it.

And then wonders of all wonders, the Autumn shows up - my FAV time of year!! This morning I juiced sweet crisp apples straight from the tree, made vegan pumpkin waffles, and pureed some of my fav autumn veggies. YUM YUM. Thank you, Autumn, the world is okay after all. :-)

What comfort things do you and your family do when the leaves turn? Anyone else love football games, raking leaves, carving pumpkins?

Hi Jen, I love autumn! Sweaters, that freshness in the air, the smell, and the vegies! We drove out in the country yesterday and saw all the pumpkins in the fields. I love curried pumpkin soup. In Canada, Thanksgiving is the second weekend of October - feasting on all the lovely squashes and root vegetables.

Last night we ate supper in front of the fire - I love it. Cozy up time!

Ok, now all of you are making me really envious! It is going to be 101 today. We won't see autumn until November - maybe - if we're lucky. Please enjoy your change of season for me as I'm living it vicariously through all of your stories. Even though I'm envious, I love reading about it!! Keep em coming folks!

I love this time of year (probably because I was born in September). The colour of the leaves, the crisp air, the harvest of fruits and veggies. Pumpkin stew, muffins, pie; roasted root veggies; apples and pears, cranberries everywhere. I made a South American bean soup last week in the slow cooker and it was great. It's time for chili and baked beans. I am trying to find a pumpkin recipe this year to replace that old pumpkin pie standard, without the crust jammed full of fats and sans milk. Anyone have any ideas?

This time of year is AMAZING when it comes to the foods to enjoy. I love all of the fall root veggies that hav recently been harvested. Apples, whether smothered with caramel, as a pie, in a sauce, or straight off of the tree. And roasting the root veggies....YUM...nothing beats carrots, squash, onions, parsnips, rutebega and the like roasted with olive oil.......Then pumpkin comes into the picture. I love pumpkin soup......and pie......The only better time, in my opinion, is the summer when everything is totally fresh.

Soups simmering away on the stove. Cloves and cinnamon mixed with apples. A fire in the fireplace. Raking leaves as they land in the yard. Long drives in the hills to view the beautiful fall colors.....Nope it doesn't get much better.

I love life and all it has to offer!!!!

Jen! Autumn makes me want to eat!!! When can I come buy!! LOL's. I do love autumn too! The colors are gorgeous, I love the new crispness to the days and the promise of still some warm days to come. Taking out some favorite sweaters and being cozy. Watching the little ones catch the bus for the first time or walking to school with their Moms or Dads. Canadian Thanksgiving is in October to big family dinners!! Its all good!

Every fall I like to take a drive by a little country church with a one room schoolhouse on the premises. The grounds are full of golden maples and when the sun shines on it just right it looks so gorgeous and peaceful. I love the fall colors we get here in Michigan. Those of you with kids still young I envy you the joy of watching them jump and roll in piles of leaves. I remember burying them in the leaves as I raked and they would enjoy hiding and then popping out to surprise me. How about gong to the apple orchard for some cider and fresh donuts? Now that I'm diabetic and have cancer it's not good for me but the memories are still sweet! Thanks Jen for starting this discussion. I am sitting here with a smile. Ah! The joys of life ... so simple ... so sweet!

Definitely yes to all the above, especially sweaters.

Viv, you are always welcome but you might want to head to Military Mama's house for some good chow - look at her yummy spread! In fact, let's all go over to Military Mama's house. Set a few hundred more places at the table Mama, lol.

Utahns always have a lot of fun at pumpkin patches and roadside stands where you can construct your own fall wreaths out of fall foliage. We have tons of corn mazes here, too. Fun stuff!
