Hello all!
I recently fractured the neck of my left femur, it's a hairline fracture about 1/3 of the way through. I began running and following a predominantly raw diet last year about 3 months after finishing 6 months of chemo for Hodgkin's. My ortho and GP doc's are suspecting that I may have lost some bone density from the chemo, but since I'm only 23 and I was running with no trouble for a while (I ran a 1/2 marathon in June for the LLS!! Go Team!!) nobody suspected these things at the time. ANYWAY, now I've got the fracture and people have been telling me that animal protein will speed the healing process, aleviate soreness (crutches are such an upper body workout!!), and just build me up better. I'm wondering what y'all think about this? And what about calcium for strong bones? I know things like spinach have calcium, but it's a really small amount compared to what's in dairy, and I just want to do what's best for my body and makes me the strongest (I'm planning on returning to running eventually). Does anybody have any advice?? THANKS!!!
