I was wondering if anyone here has tried these bands that work on accumpressure points to relieve nausea naturally? They are supposed to be good for chemo nausea or anesthesia nausea etc. I really wish I would have come across these a week and a half ago. I've put away a bottle of Pepto Bismol in the last week. Uhg.
didn't work for me. I use peppermint tea as it naturally settles the stomach and yes phenergan as is needed. I keep strong altoids in my purse for travel, the peppermint effect as well. I am losing too much weight for not being able to keep any food down. Will be praying for you.
omg I can't stand phenergan! I have a few bottles of it but I just can't take it. Does it work for the nausea? Well I guess, in a round-about-way, it knocks ya the f*ck out! For like 24 hours!
Ask you doctor about Zofran..none of the lasting effects of Phenergan. Not in the same category and won't throw most people for a loop. There are always exceptions but on other can-ser sites, the majority are saying it is a blessing. I have this one too and use it instead of Phenergan most of the time. So sorry, forgot to tag this one previous note... xo, Bren
really? i have a prescription for Zofran, but I didn't even bother to fill it because I just figured it was like phenergan. That and the doctor said, "this is pretty expensive", and I'm broke. I'm 99% sure that zofran is what they gave me at the ER on Saturday and it really wasn't working too good. IDK, the nausea is getting better now so I'm just gonna stick to the big watchtower bottle of Pepto, but it would be nice for future reference to have something that works and doesn't put me into a coma.
Glad you posted this. Someone suggested them to me, but I have not purchased them to try. I have a lead on someone that does acupuncture here and want to try that for chemo nausea, too.
I am actually wearing these bands now. Not for chemo, but for morning sickness. I am about two and a half months pregnant. I'm not sure if they are helping or not, but I'm afraid to take them off. I still get nauseated occasionally, but haven't thrown up. So, I think they're doing their job. They are relatively cheap. I think I paid $10-$15 for mine at the local pharmacy. Well worth the cost. I've also seen some that look more like bracelets and you only have to wear them on one wrist instead of both. I saw them on the internet, but never in a store.
I took compazine and zofran after my chemo...the compazine worked pretty fast...I also took ativan (my favorite drug)...it's anti-anxiety and helped me sleep, while it also helped with nausea. I also was popping peppermint candy...sometimes it worked...sometimes it seemed to make things worse...(probably because I was popping a lot of sugar!)
This time around my naturopath suggested a homeopathic remedy called Unda 243 (Not sure I buy into this homeopathic stuff)..I'll let you know if it works after my surgery.
I get pretty sick from general anesthesia...My doctor prescribe emend before surgery...One pill $23!!!! It had better work...If I'm sick after my surgery, I'm pucking up $23 worth of cleanup!!!
Hi Goony,I tried these bands (they're called seabands in the UK) after chemo cos I was really struggling with nausea. I was initially sceptical but they did take the edge off it. I would take them off to have a bath, forget I'd removed them and then notice later that the nausea had sneaked right back in there because I'd not put them back on. I could stop taking the anti nausea drugs much quicker when I used them-could have been psychological but who cares!! Very best of luck

Hey Goony Love! Try ginger chews (delish), ginger wafers (Sha Sha spelt - delish), and ginger tea. I had major nausea for 1-1/2 years and the only thing that got rid of it for me was ginger capsules. They are inexpensive AND they also help reduce inflammation.
You can also do acupressure on yourself. My Chinese Medicine Dr taught me this... for nausea - the point is on the inner side of your forearm (look at your hand opened). Looking at your hand, draw a line down from your third finger (flip a bird finger) to an inch below your wrist line / fold. Press or rub when nausea starts. Also for your ovaries, uterus, etc. (close by), move over to the inside (looking at your hand - side closest to your body) edge of the forearm (an inch below the wrist line) and press or rub to help with pain, healing, etc. You can rub the arm on the affected side or both can be done (left ovary - rub left arm).
