Well, I guess since I don't know anyone here well enough yet who'll request prayers on my behalf, I'll just have to ask for them myself!
Tomorrow, around 1pm MST, I will be undergoing a second chemoembolization of the year. I had the first one in March, on St. Patty's day to be exact. I'll be staying at least one night in the hospital, depending on how my pain is managed.
It's a quick and relatively simple procedure but it turned out to be excruciating last time. After the procedure itself, I need to lie flat in post-op for 4-5 hours in order to prevent internal bleeding. This time, though, I've taken many more precautions to make it a better experience. First of all, I'm getting a urinary catheter to make my 5 hours in recovery more bearable! Also, I'll be staying on the oncology floor instead of the general hospital floor. And we all should know by now, oncology patients get better care than the regular few! I'm taking a bucket full of candy for the nurses in order to lure them through my room so that I'm not forgotten. Nurses love candy! Finally, a dear friend of mine who is a retired occupational therapy nurse has come to town (from Virginia, I'm in CO) to care for me during the next two weeks of recovery.
Anyway, this time around, it should go much more smoothly. My husband will be staying the night with me in the hospital and parents will be visiting throughout the day.
We are strong believers in positive thinking, creative visualization, that sort of thing. So if you have a moment and some energy to spare, please send me some healing energies tomorrow and the days to follow. I can use all the support I can get! Hopefully this procedure will shrink the tumor on my liver just enough to do surgery and remove it!
Thanks,
Garnet
