My Crazy Sexy Life

Well, i looked high and low and couldn't find a discussion on this very important subject, so i'm starting it.

Nietzsche once said: Without music, life would be a mistake.

Ok, well i wouldn't go that far, but i simply do not think i could go through life without my music!! That said, lets share our musical tastes with each other!!! Stuff that we listen to on a daily basis and stuff we listen to, well when we are depressed, happy, scared, in love, out of love...you get the idea!!!

I guess i will just list:
Cowboy Junkies (The trinity session) dreamy quality with lush mesmeric guitar riffs and a smoothe sultry lead singer makes you really feel the music
Goldfrapp (Seventh Tree) I just wanna buy a bag of green (produce that is), smoke a bowl (oops i mean eat a bowl) and listen.
The Mountain Goats (Heretic Pride) Great singer songwriter album that is easily accessable to just about everyone...check out Dance Music
Radiohead (In Rainbows) This is an album to be listened to more than once to feel its full force!!! Takes you on an emotional ride through love, fear and hope!!!
Yael Naiim (Yael Naiim) New Soul is a song that will make you laugh, smile, sing, dance (written by a 12 year old)
Yo La Tengo (I am not afraid of you, and i will beat your ass) This group has been around a while, favorites are Mr. Tough and My little corner of the world...

Then there's Arcade Fire, The Killers, Beirut, The bird and the Bee, Bon Iver, British Sea Power, Cat Power, Devotchka, ELectrelane, Glen Hansard, Hot chip, Imogen Heap, Jack Johnson, Matt Costa, The Polyphonic Spree, Rilo Kiley!!!

I'm thinking i'll stop now!!!

Wow, you have good taste! I think you could make this a group if this discussion takes off. Maybe like a righteous ipod group! YEAH. I'm always looking for new music. Get board quickly. Right now I'm listening to the new soundtrack from the film Once, Carla Bruni, the new Cat Power and I did just bought In Rainbows. Haven't cracked it out of the case yet, now I totally will. That cowboy junkies CD means the world to me. Damn, I've burned out 2 of them. I'll never forget where I was the first time I heard it...Whoa. xoxo

If you like the Once OST, be sure to check out The Frames, it's Glen Hansards band and all of the music (pretty much) from Once was originally done by them, they just re-did it for the movie soundtrack.Okay, done pushing music on you.

I love the Once movie and soundtrack. It is fantastic. I was so glad they won the Academy Award for best music. Glen and his co-star were so humble and surprised that they won. The MC said they were freaking out back stage they were so so excited. I'll have to check out the Frames. Thanks for the insight. Rock on!!!!

Lately, I dig anything live. Dave Matthews, old Blues Traveler, Aimee Mann, Jack Johnson, Neil Young. I'm obsessed with George Harrison's "All Things Must Pass." Bands I've seen in concert lately, The Foos, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beck, Pearl Jam, Eddie Vedder, Neil Young Bridge School Concer, Tenacious D - I'll go see anything!

Michelle, you have better taste, I'll have to check out some of your bands (yes on the Killers and Arcade Fire)

My choices are eclectic, all over the place and constantly changing. I love everything from Aerosmith to The Roots, Janis Joplin to Nirvana, A Tribe Called Quest to Beirut and back down all around again. You could ask me every day for a week what I'm listening to that day, and it will probably be something so completely different from the previous day.

It's the same with me, and I love it, get to experience so many different types of emotions that come along with all that different music!

Great thread!

I listen to tons of all different kinds of music and play a little guitar too --great therapy. I am currently listening to Nancy Wilson: (Heart) Live at McCabes Guitar Shop; a really nice live acoustic performance. I am listening to Black 47 an Irish-American band from the Bronx. BlackFire, a great native American radical punk band, Peter Seeger, (our local folkster) Stevie Ray Vaughan, some Bach & Mozart, & various meditation & chants beats.

Yes! Once is excellent! Be sure to check out the film. Also check out the movie The Commitments, another Greg Hansard music film.
