I don't know if anyone has heard of CaringBridge.org before but it truly helped my family out a lot when my sister's accident happened. Basically, this website "helps keep loved ones informed during difficult times. In return, family and friends give patient and caregiver support through guestbook messages." It is FREE and only operates on donations.
At the beginning of the whirlwind of hospital visits, Kelzey being airlifted, and family and friends wanting to stay updated on her condition, we heard of this website through someone at the Ronald McDonald House. It truly is an amazing source and gave us much relief! We could simply update EVERYONE about her current condition/where-abouts/what was going to happen with procedures, etc.. It became the hub for "all-things-Kelzey" and once she heals to the point of being able to read again she will see her progress, step-by-step, as well as the outpouring of support she recieved!!
We still use this website and getting the guestbook entries really helps! It can be very uplifting and empowering to read people's kind words and thoughts at the end of an exhausting day. Family/friends and people following can subscribe to have journal updates sent to their e-mail which helps everyone stay on the same page.
It can be so difficult/frustrating/tiring to feel as though you have to answer endless calls to let everyone know the updates!! I hope this website can help someone here out (or someone you know in the future) like it did for my family!!
Take care,
Sabrina
