Getting Help

With my husband away in Iraq, and three teenage daughters, I find that we are overwhelmed with things that we cannot get done. We do not belong to any church, and the cancer support house is not open during any hours that we can attend due to my work schedule. My daughters are doing all the shopping, cleaning, etc when I cannot, and although some friends offer to help, many times they do not show up. With the double burden of a soldier gone and chemo going, does anyone know of a place that we can go to get some help? I cannot stand for my girls to spend their time working 24/7, although they have never complained one time. Any advice would be welcome.

Everyone has been so great with all of these suggestions, and I am planning to follow up on every single one. I probably was not very clear about the fact that while my daughters are helping me they never complain, not once, and I never ever have to ask. I was divorced when my mother had breast cancer, and my children were old enough to remember taking care of her before she passed away, so they understand how real this is. I am very lucky that I have not had a chance to mess them up yet- haha- and this is part of the reason for a search for help- to take a bit off them and allow them to be kids for awhile.....

All the suggestions, links and follow up by you folks have helped so much already. Thank you again, and the girls thank you too. :)
