My Crazy Sexy Life

Ok, we have not touched this one. Who are you hoping becomes our next president and why? I have no bias... no ugliness please and respect all opinions. I am scared. I want universal healthcare, I want a stable and independent America, I want us to be safe. I want this war to end. I want us to get to helping our own people and the worlds... I want...peace, prosperity, and a future that does not just belong to the rich. I want a future that allows each child or adult to have a college education, a job, and I do not want 6 dollar gas. I want veterans to be cared for, the elderly not to be thrown away to the medicare God and I want all people to be able to worship and belive in the God of thier choice. I want a free America with free people and all people to have a life without prejucdice, fear, or judgement. I think it is time we all get up and do something about the lives in our towns and states. Because if we dont we are not going to be able to do anything. I think one person can make a difference. I am voting for Barak Obama. I think he is the only person who can beat McCain right now and though I think McCain is a war hero and a good man I think we need to change the country and we need someone with an open mind. A mind not dead set on war and revenge. I want someone who has worked his way up and someone who shows his flaws and I want hope. Tell me what you want. I would love to know. I am not a democrat or a republican. I grew up and for most of my married life I was a republican then a year as a democrat and now I am independent.. How do you decide? What do you all think? I cannot wait to hear.

Happy Typing. Callie

You know I love you imput.. you are right about we are who we help.. I think we see that all throughout history. And this is a pickle we are in. I pray they are grateful. I suppose if we had entered the war on more ethical terms I may not have been against it. I certainly am very proud of our military. Duncan is retired from the Special Ops and he fought in Iraq in the first Gulf War. The problem I have with the war is not the liberation of the people or the stopping of evil. It is not the good work out men and women do countless times.. It is the corruption and evil in government that bothers me. I do however think you have a valid point that I will be researching. I do not want out military scaled back.. or our arsenals.. depleted.. I want us strong on all fronts. I think your comment is one of the reasons why this is such a touch election. I have stated alot of my swinging on this election and it is very hard for me to not vote for a hero. I am not for his ideas.. but honey if a bully was coming I would be the first to pick up a gun.. we need people to stop it... you are right about that. I think that the war will always be a dividing mark for each person for so many different reasons... personal and political.. but by gum one thing you can say my friend is that being an America that is strong and supports our military and grows our troops and thier strength and ability is never one of the things dividing your opinion with mine.. You are lovely and I am so glad you are contributing please write more I am learning daily not only what I think but about ideals I should be looking at that maybe has slipped thru my own person experiences here and I am not considering like I should. That is why this is such a great discussion.. Thank you. Much love and thanks for being the voice of difference.. I love that.. Callie

And you are right about the bully I am not the sit down and talk about it type.. noo... something to think on..

Callie, you made an awesome point. We should totally do away with the antiquated notion of the electoral college. The average american just doesn't understand why we have to vote for people to vote for the people we want. I believe the electoral college had its place in history, but that's where it belongs.

Yes we can!

As for our current situation, i'm afraid to really say what I think. Bush knew about 9/11, why else would he stay seated in an elementary school while thousands of people were dying, planes were still crashing, and he was at a planned known event... a sitting duck. Then the war in Afghanistan, which yes, I supported. Then the illegal war in Iraq, a war for which the man should be brought up on war crime charges.

Yes he should!

Presently we have one candidate who has said on record that he could foresee the war in Iraq lasting 100 years? 100 years. Think about that. I don't think we can afford or sustain that. And then there was the little ditty he sang to a veteran's group, "Bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran..." Any guesses what he has in mind? Perhaps that's another war he wants to wage for 100 years?

No we don't!!

No thank you.

Give me Obama/Clinton! Healthcare for all. I have family, republicans, that are livid that the average american might get health insurance such as theirs (they are gov't employees), they wonder why ordinary people should be "entitled" to such. If they want the insurance they should get a job that provides it, etc etc. Give me a candidate that wants to end the war Iraq immediately! Bring our men and women, mothers and fathers, sons and daughters HOME!

Yes we will!

We have been ruled by fear for far too long now. We need hope. Yes we can! Yes we will!

Geez, I hope I don't get jumped on too much for this post...

Hi Austin - jumped on? Heck no, I totally agree with eveything you've said. I've seen so many docos and reports regarding your lack of universal healthcare and I can only hope that whoever gets in to office over there will seek to implement it. Here in Australia we have universal healthcare (have had since the 70s) and don't know what I would do without it.

I really don't think that another president hell-bent on continuing a war is really what is needed right now. We've just pulled out a majority of our troupes (our official tour of duty has just finished) and I really don't think those guys want to go back. I just hope that our new prime-minister won't do what the last one did and just roll-over again. That was just embarrassing!

If only I had someone in the US to vote for me!! Give me a democrat and one who's ready to look outside the box and see eveything differently - maybe then we (as a world) will be able to see some change.

my only disagreement is that I can't work and never asked for it...I worked since I was 10 and was disabled by a brain tumor at 29/30 and am not likely to be able to return, why should people like many of us on this board suffer.

We shouldn't we should have care.. that is bullshit.. I have a friend John Edwards that I prayed would have voted for we with cancer and things.. but... maybe he will be a fighter again...

I really want us all to continue this discussion but make sure we all do it in a way that is kind to each other.. this is a hot topic and you know we all love one another.. so kindly.. I said this not in reply to sweetfightgirl but as I read I know we all have strong opinions.. lord knows.. i have too many opinions.. never the less.. we must first do no harm.. and learn from one another.. love you alll.. thought I would say that before things get heated..it is all good... but my dad always says cya.. cover you ass.. so lets do.. hah'

love you all callie

Call my a cynic, but unfortunately I don't believe that any current candidate is going to get us universal health care. Either way, I'm for Obama.

A few years back in our local paper, they interviewed a guy who said that for every presidential election he wrote in the name, "Mickey Mouse."

Really? You actually write names down? We just tick boxes (makes it easier for local elections when you have no idea how the candidates are so you just do a random pick). That's great though - imagine if a lot of people actually did that...?

Well, now we have the electronic voting thing where you select one name or another, but you can click on "write in" and type in the name of whomever you choose. (wasting a vote would be a good name for this...)
