National Race for the Cure - Was anyone else there yesterday?

Hi all,

Just wanted to throw out a hello and see if anyone else was at the National Race for the Cure yesterday in DC? What a hot, but great day! The speakers were great and the survivor tent was fun! I actually ran the 5K this year, just like I promised myself I would last year post-bilat mastectomy surgery. Can you believe it, I also won second in the survivor "best costume" contest for my "fake?" t-shirt - what a hoot!!

I will post some photos and also have more to say on my blog (especially about that t-shirt for bilat mastectomy girls), but wanted to shout out to all to see who else was sweatin' it up??

Permalink Reply by Tina! on June 9, 2008 at 1:11pm: The before race photos were not so bad and there was a slight breeze at 0630 in the morning. The after photos, I think it is because my entire shirt was wet. Yep, apparently it was a wet t-shirt kinda day, although there were no prizes for that!!! Ha-ha-hee-hee!

I did drink lots of water and had green juice prior to the race for breakfast - kale, celery, ginger, apple.

Thanks for the "cool as a cucumber" comment - love it!

I admire that you did it in that heat this weekend! Congrats on your costume and I would love to view some of your pics! I don't live in DC but did one in my area earlier this year (April). I have done this race for many years and always love the energy no matter where I have done it. We did ours in the pouring rain this year and still had fun!

Permalink Reply by Tina! on June 9, 2008 at 12:21pm: Hi 'Stasia - It was and there was a lot folks feeling ill. I had a bit of dizziness after the race too, but it subsided, thank goodness! Their are pics in my gallery here and also on my blog at http://tinainthepink.blogspot.com

I haven't done one pouring rain yet, but I have only done 4 so far (2 as a survivor), so I am sure I will have a wet one at some point. I will welcome that in comparison to Sat's heat!

A great friend of mine, Tom did particpate this year ... check out his webpage he created ... he mentions me (which was very sweet).
