My Crazy Sexy Life

Well, i looked high and low and couldn't find a discussion on this very important subject, so i'm starting it.

Nietzsche once said: Without music, life would be a mistake.

Ok, well i wouldn't go that far, but i simply do not think i could go through life without my music!! That said, lets share our musical tastes with each other!!! Stuff that we listen to on a daily basis and stuff we listen to, well when we are depressed, happy, scared, in love, out of love...you get the idea!!!

I guess i will just list:
Cowboy Junkies (The trinity session) dreamy quality with lush mesmeric guitar riffs and a smoothe sultry lead singer makes you really feel the music
Goldfrapp (Seventh Tree) I just wanna buy a bag of green (produce that is), smoke a bowl (oops i mean eat a bowl) and listen.
The Mountain Goats (Heretic Pride) Great singer songwriter album that is easily accessable to just about everyone...check out Dance Music
Radiohead (In Rainbows) This is an album to be listened to more than once to feel its full force!!! Takes you on an emotional ride through love, fear and hope!!!
Yael Naiim (Yael Naiim) New Soul is a song that will make you laugh, smile, sing, dance (written by a 12 year old)
Yo La Tengo (I am not afraid of you, and i will beat your ass) This group has been around a while, favorites are Mr. Tough and My little corner of the world...

Then there's Arcade Fire, The Killers, Beirut, The bird and the Bee, Bon Iver, British Sea Power, Cat Power, Devotchka, ELectrelane, Glen Hansard, Hot chip, Imogen Heap, Jack Johnson, Matt Costa, The Polyphonic Spree, Rilo Kiley!!!

I'm thinking i'll stop now!!!

At the moment I seem to be addicted to Sara Bareilles, but as Dee said (and others) it's constantly changing. I listen to a variety of things, so it's always different.

I love my iPod--it's my favorite accessory! I've been listening to Vienna Teng, Tori Amos, Maroon 5, Coldplay, Sufjan Stevens, Aimee Mann, Sting (I love Sting!), among others! I'm also a big fan of 80s music--pretty much any kind. And I just discovered The Decemberists.

Music has helped me greatly these last few months...I sometimes think about what my personal soundtrack would be, the music following me wherever I go and changing depending on my environment/mood/etc.

Great topic!

Anyone like Tommy Emmanuel? rockin Aussie guitarist? Saw him live last week and was one of the best shows I've ever seen. His finger pickin is superb. Also, the band The Green Cards...also from Australia. Tommy plays percussion on his guitar like a mad man. My son has a new band called The 33's. It's considered punk but I can't listen to punk so I disagree with him since I can listen to his stuff. Some of it is a little wild but heck, you only live once. The lyrics are fantastic even though for the most part you can't understand them but they shoot from the heart. Check them out at myspace.com/the33'snsd
I like all the suggestions. I'm a music freak and think things aren't happenin' unless the house is rockin'.
Ryan Adams kicks a. Annie Lennox, Jeff Tweedy, and am I giving my age away if I say The Stones and the Beatles?? oh and a good doowap can't be beat...ooh I really gave my age away with that one. Patty Griffin, anybody like her? Sheryl Crow...I can go on and on
One more...Subzero wrote a song called Lion Hearted......its the lyrics that are awesome...he's a two time cancer survivor and dedicated the song to all cancer survivors and lionhearts and to those that didn't make it...awesome words. My son printed the words when I went through chemo the second time. Am I allowed to copy and paste? Here they are:

I HAD TO FIGHT FOR MY LIFE
I HAD TO STRUGGLE JUST TO STAY ALIVE
I ALMOST DIED TWO FUCKING TIMES BUT I-
I OVERCAME CAUSE THIS WORLD IS MINE
I'M IN REMISSION AND FULL OF NEW LIFE
WONT FLINCH AT DEATH, I'LL STAND AND FIGHT
BORN WITH THESE FEELINGS DEEP INSIDE OF ME
BORN WITH THIS PURPOSE I EXIST TO BE

NEVER GIVE IN
DON'T EVER LET THE STRUGGLE BRING YOU DOWN
KEEP YOUR MIND FOCUSED
AND WITH THAT THIS WORLD IS YOURS

IN MY LIFE I'VE FELT THE VERY WORST OF PAINS
KNOCKED TO THE GROUND, BUT I GET BACK UP AGAIN
SO MANY TIMES I HAD TO PAY THE HIGHEST PRICE
STOOD UP TO DEATH AND LOOKED HIM STRAIGHT IN THE EYES
I'VE WALKED THE PATH THAT MOST OF YOU WOULD TRULY DOUBT
DAY BY DAY, THAT'S WHAT MY LIFE IS ALL ABOUT
DON'T EVER COMPROMISE YOUR LIFE FOR ANYONE
YOU'LL NEVER KNOW WHEN YOUR LIFE IS GONNA COME

chorus:
COURAGE, STRENGTH, PRIDE
I'M LION HEARTED
COURAGE, STRENGTH, PRIDE
I'M LION HEARTED

LIONS BLOOD FLOWS STRAIGHT THROUGH MY VEINS
I'VE GOT THE COURAGE AND I'VE GOT THE STRENGTH
TATTOOED MY NAME CAUSE I'M FUCKIN PROUD OF WHO I AM AND WHAT I'M ABOUT
TATTOOED MY NAME CAUSE I'M FUCKIN PROUD OF WHO I AM AND WHAT I'M ABOUT
MY HEART IS BOLD AND MY BLOOD IS RED
I OVERCAME AND I CHEATED DEATH
AND NOW I HOLD THE WISDOM OF A THOUSAND YEARS
IN THIS WORLD I KNOW NO FEAR

I'VE GOT THE COURAGE AND I'VE GOT THE STRENGTH
I'VE GOT THESE FEELINGS DEEP INSIDE MY VEINS
TATTOOED MY NAME CAUSE I'M FUCKIN PROUD OF WHO I AM AND WHAT I'M ABOUT
MY HEART IS BOLD AND MY BLOOD IS RED
I OVERCAME AND I CHEATED DEATH
AND NOW I HOLD THE WISDOM OF A THOUSAND YEARS
IN THIS WORLD I KNOW NO FEAR
IN THIS WORLD I KNOW NO FEAR

My favorite albums of 2007 were

The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter, by Josh Ritter
Children Running Through, by Patty Griffin
The Stage Names, by Okkervil River
Nothing is Okay, by the Everybodyfields
Easy Tiger, by Ryan Adams and the Cardinals

Check them out...you won't be sorry!! Especially if your tastes run toward the americana genre.

I love music!! It's a part of my everyday life! I recently got back from a big music festival in the Florida Everglades called "Langerado" and am planning on going to Bonnarroo in June! Some of my favorite artists include Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, Bob Marley, Citizen Cope, Kate Havnevik, Matisyahu, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Corrinne Bailey Rae, Dave Matthews Band (LOVE them!!), John Mayer, Paolo Nutini (amazing voice), Death Cab for Cutie....the list goes on and on.

The great thing about music is that it is so diverse...you can ALWAYS find something new that moves you!!

Happy Listening!!
