My Crazy Sexy Life

Good Morning everyone!

I am seeking any advice, assistance, suggestions, etc. for my mother. About 4 years ago she was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a full mastectomy of her left breast. Once her breast was removed, she went through about 6 chemo treatments and the chemo significantly lowered her blood presure so her Oncologist, at that time, took her off chemo and perscribed tamoxfin. Approximately 2 years after that her cancer came back on the left breast. She went through another round of surgery and radiation.

Now her cancer has spread to her liver. Around January this year her Oncologist said that she had 6 months to live, as she was unable to walk due to the pain number of tumors in her liver causer. In March/April, we started to see improvement, she had her energy back (well most of it), was able to do pretty much everything, except she got tired easily.

For the last 2 months she has been receiving chemo and for the last week or so, she hasn't been feeling well, has pain, her bilirubin level is back up again to 20 (the normal range in women is 1-3, I believe) and she is afraid that the cancer has spread. The last time that she went to receive treatment (last Thursday), her Oncologist said that she could not receive the chemo.

I am optimistic that my mother can battle this, with lots of help. I am doing whatever I can to help her out and make her life at home comfortable.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what meals and foods are healthy for her and if there is any other treatment that she should try out, we are open to trying anything and everything.

Hey Sarah,
You will definitely get alot of input on this. I feel for your situation...my mother's was very similiar and she was not so open to alternative treatments although I had looked into so many. I think at this point, it you are able, it would be worth going to an actual alternative healing institute like the hippocrates where she will get a multilevel of holistic care which it sounds like she needs. At this point, western medicine is not offering her much in the way of hope so go after the alternatives like Kris and others here successfully did. Your options have not been exhausted yet.
I would recommend getting Kris's book (lots of resources/ideas in there) and some books like Options: The alternative treatment to caner or The Third Opinion which have explanations of the various holistic treatments out there and contact references......once you have a few reference books....you can couple this with some of the feedback you will be getting here. At the very least, even if you cannot get her to a treatment facility....consult with a good holistic MD, educate yourselves as much as you can so you can come up with a agreed upon approach.
Hope this helps.....I am sure CSL will give you some input as well.
Best to you and your mom,
Anastasia

Thank You Anastasia! I have ordered the book, just waiting on Amazon to send it to me :) I can't wait to get it and read up on all the options that are available.

We tried using a Tebitan Medicine Doctor however the herbs he prescribed did more harm than good, at least that's what we think happened. Her long time friend who had cancer as well went to a facility in Santa Barbara, CA which didn't help her either. I think that my mother's positive spirit will help for us, I am very open to sending her to a facility where she can receive around the clock treatment for a few days/weeks if necessary. First, I would like to find one that is best for her situation, which I hope that the book will help me find. secondly, my father is really not up for that idea, I would LOVE to find a way to convince him otherwise.

Thanks again :)

No problem Sarah. Herb concotions that are being delivered as "meds" can be tricky.
While you are getting an arsenal of books and info together to decide where or who you think it's best to go with.....one thing (if you aren't already) to do that seems to be universal for everyone here...is green juice (with low to no sugar if possible). This can only boost her immune system and energy if not help with the cancer. The other would be the warm water, lemon, and stevia....which could help her liver function/cleansing. These two things have been recommend in Kris's book and others and on this site.

Hi Sarah,

I am sorry for what you are going through. I want you to know that there are many alternatives that work. My husband refused surgery over a year ago and he is currently tumor free. We did this with alternative treatment. If I could recommend one incredible book that changed our lives its "Outsmart you Cancer" by Tania Hearting Pierce. I also own Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips which is wonderful too. I think the two combined are what really out us on the path to find our own medicine and our own healing. You need to take your health in your own hands and not leave it in the hands of doctors. They also told my husband that if he didn't have the surgery, he would be dead in a year!! He is so far from even being sick, and with no tumor!!! :-)
I hope that your mother has a positive and fighting attitude, because that is half the battle.

These are some great tips, thank you! I will check out "Outsmart your Cancer". by the way, what kind of Cancer did your husband have?

My mother is now avoiding all meat this incluced, meat, chicken, pork, seafood... preatty much anything. At this point I am pretty much willing to do anything and everything to get her cancer Free. I have heard so many times that this may not be possible but I truly believe that with enough attention and care along with my mother's lively spirit she can overcome this.

Currently I am reading The Gerson Therapy, does anyone have any experience with that?

Also, I would like to check out some of these places that offer atlernative treatment however, I don't know where to start looking. We live in the san Francisco Bay Area and are willing to go any distance to get care for her.

I truly appreciate your comments and advice.

Hi Sarah,

I don't know how far you are willing to travel, but we just returned from Germany for the second time. The treatment there is unbelievable. The hospital combines conventional treatments with natural/holistic treatments. Their main form of treating cancer is by Hyperthermia. They have been doing this for over 20 years with an incredible sucess rate. My husband's tumor markers droped from 87 to 33 after the first treatment. It is expensive, but if you can afford it...so worth it. Let me know if you are interested and I can send you more info. My husband has colorectal cancer, but Hyperthermia works on all cancer.

Sarah, relative to Gerson Therapy, check out the Gerson Group in Groovy Groups. Sheila is having GREAT success following it for Stage 4 BC and Judy Walls (colon cancer) just came back from the center in Mexico. Sheila's mom went to a center in southern CA to learn about Gerson since Sheila was too ill at the time to go.
The Optimum Health Institute is another place in San Diego that utilizes juice/living food/detox in their program. Also The Living Foods Institute in Atlanta is another option. There's Sanoviv in Mexico which does combined treatments of juicing/living foods/detox & "traditional" low does chemo...treatment team tailored to the patient. Jill, here on the forum has experience working with Dr. Gonzalez in NY & is doing well with stage 4 BC. And of course, there's Hippocrates.

All of these options utilize juicing/living foods/detox as a component in their protocols. Except for Sanoviv, which has a chemo option, each varies on costs & supplements as part of their programs. Some, like Dr. Gonzalez also utilize pancreatic enzymes as a key component, as well as customized diet. Gerson also uses enzymes & some supplements. Hippocrates also utilizes enzymes & supplrments.

In the meantime, you might consider www.dreliaz.org He is an integrative cancer doctor in Sebastapole. He integrates Tibetan chinese medicine/acupunture & herbs with western medicine. He utilizes intravenous Vit C, supplements & others. While it is not a juicing program per se, you could certainly do that on your own integrated. I personally have done some work with him & I think he is a good doc, but it can be expensive. Dr. Eliaz has a great success story with a woman with stage 4 BC, although I don't know about other BC cases. Perhaps you could see him & at least get some Vit C treatments while you are sorting out your options. Dr. Brodie in Reno, NV also has an integrative practice.

There's also Pine Street Clinic in Marin/San Rafael area that integrates chinese medicine with low dose/fractionated chemo (I think this is optional). The have had some good successes and are local...again perhaps something to consider while you sort things out. No juicing per sey, but you could integrate.

It does seem given where your mother is at right now, that going to a place where she can get help to create some baseline improvement, learn the lifestyle changes & then go from there might be best. And if finances allow, for you or someone to perhaps accompany her to help when returning.
Hope some of these pointers help.

Hi Sarah,
I agree with the ladies on this blog that your Mom should check the alternative sites.
I absolutely agree with Michalene that the Gerson therapy may prove to be an excellent choice; indeed, Sheila has a wonderful blog that you may want to check out. Sheila's blog is a source of constant inspiration for me and my mother: she has great information in there plus her courage and inspiration are invaluable for anyone to read about and to share!!
You can find tons of great information and advice on this wonderful website: both me and my mother have found them and this blog truly changed our lives!!!
Please don't hesitate to write to me if you have any other questions or concerns.
I am sending lots of healing energy for your Mom!
God Bless you and your Mom!
All the Best,
Mary

Hi Sarah, I didn't have time to read all of the responses above...but I saw that you ordered the book. Don't forget the CD! My mom has cancer also and the CD really got her and my sister excited and interested in what I have been trying to push for a year. Buy books, rent them from your local library and educate yourself on nutrition. Take notes and get someone to help you, it can be a lot of work. Most all cancer patients are malnourished and that's what destroys them.

God Bless
