I have been trying to follow the alkaline diet pretty closely, but this time of year I love a cold beer. If I can alkalize my water by putting a lemon in it, will it work for beer? Maybe this is a really stupid question, but had to ask...
I worked at the BRICK BREWING Company in Waterloo, Ontario for 18 years And what I know is...Water is 7PH (neutral) beer is 4.2 PH on the acidic side.
Now the reason people put lemons in Corona is because the beer is in a clear glass bottle. The sun changes the chemistry of the hop..causing SKUNKY taste and aroma. (there is a reason for brown bottles) Some company's put a chemical in the beer with the green glass...anyway long story.....we can't in Canada. Soooo, if you put a lemon in your Corona...can't taste the skunk as much...and they make alot of $$ from it because they use it as a marketing tool........sooooo, just enjoy a nice cold beer in a brown bottle and enjoy:)
Peace Out

Hey I just remembered The Brick Brewing Company makes the product called Bambay. Made with grapefruit. Only 2.5 % really yummy and really refreshing. I would say the PH is still on the 4.2Ph side. What beer is not on the acidic side??? Stilll really yummy:)
