My Crazy Sexy Life

Anyone got tattoos that define them? Their journey? Life meaning? I'm wanting to get a tattoo in the upper middle part of my back that defines what I've gone through/am going through physically and mentally with my illness. Something that will bring me back to reality when I'm up in the clouds. I'm really digging celtic symbols at the moment. I wonder if we can post pics of our tats on the discussion board...

Awesome, Les! I love both those ideas.

These are great. I've contemplated doing the same thing myself with my scar but it is on my chest. It's just in an odd spot for a tattoo.

I just have a small one very low on my back. It is the word 'Hope' in black cursive. Very simple, but makes a lot of sense to me.

I was told I could not have anymore tattooss becasue the ink goes threw the lymph system and can clog or build up in the lymph nodes. If I wasn't in Lymphadema therapy I just might have gone against the advice, but since I am dealing with Lymphadema, why ask for more trouble. Just alittle FYI because I didn't know all that until things got this far. Even the guy at the Tattoo shop agreed (shit). So I got my nose pierced!

In high school, after my parents divorced and I'd gone through a rough time, I got 2 tattoos on the small of my back - the Japanese character for "strength" and the quote by Nietzche, "That which does not kill makes one strong." After a period of personal transformation and healing after a trauma, I also got my Hebrew name tattooed on one of my ankles and the Tibetan prayer of the lotus wrapped around the other one.

I want to get a lotus flower, or the quote "There but for the grace of God go I", but not sure where.....

My cousin's widow and I had a memorial tattoo in honor of my cousin that passed away the year prior from endrocine cancer, not knowing 361 days later I would be diagnosed myself with what is known as the "butterfly" cancer...these things just don't happen...(mine is the larger of the two and has his initials (BMO) in the wing)

I believe tattoos are a symbol of a journey in your life. When my daughter was born, I got her name with my favorite flowers next to it. Now, I'm in the process os getting my second tattoo, a ovarion cancer ribbon with angel wings. As a reminder of what my sister is going through. I like to think that I can protect her. That way every time I look at it, it will make me feel like eveything is going to be okie dokie because she has me, her cancer angel.

I have a Dead Bear on my "lower region" - early 20's were rather bizarre - not so nice now that I've had kids and it's gotten all stretched out...
Peace and rock on ~
