My Crazy Sexy Life

What do y'all eat for breakfast besides green juices? I do that, and try and stay all raw til lunchtime doing green-and-fruit smoothies and then more fruit if I still am hungry--which I always am. I have my green juice around 7, followed by a green/fruit smoothie around 8:30, then oranges or bananas or whatever fruit is around. But by 10:30 or 11, I'm lightheaded and sick of fruit.

I'd also like to reduce fruit. I believe I may have a little candida, because I get these sugar cravings and have some other symptoms that tend to increase when I do lots of fruit. Plus the idea that sugar feeds cancer scares me, even though as far as I know, I do not have cancer.

I need some good raw breakfast ideas! Got any?

Where do you get coconut water? I bought one of those young coconuts at the co-op one time and left it in my frig forever because I could never face the thought of losing a finger trying to open it up. Finally threw it out, vowing to find a better way to get coconut water. Is it in the refrigerated section? On the shelf?

anne,

you need an axe or a machete to break open the young coconuts. i keep them on the counter until we use them. it's really best to use the fresh coconuts. once you get used to cutting them open - it's easy. i can buy 12 in a case in china town here in seattle. it's much cheaper this way.

Here is a link that I found really helpful to me when I opened my first young coconut! It worked like a charm! And I still have all my fingers...

I eat organic granola for breakfast. It's not raw, I know, but I need that to get my day started! I eat fruit mid morning and then I drink a 16oz green juice at lunch time. Early afternoon I eat a huge salad. That keeps me full for a long time. While the kids eat dinner I snack on raw veggies. Dee - I loved your wrap recipe with purple cabbage and veggie salsa, I can't wait to try it, it sounds great.

My husband likes raw oats, seeds, nuts, berries, cinnimun with a bit of 9.5 alkaline water, and a favourite for both of us anytime of day is hemp balls....1cup raw hemp protein, 3/4cup maple syrup, 1cup hemp butter(or peanut butter; or whatever you like) mix into a paste and add up to 4cups of your favourite nuts, seeds, oats, dried cranberries, carob chips, hemp hearts etc. roll into balls and refridgerate....enjoy!

Katie... I'm going into the kitchen right now and make Hemp Balls. It sounds great and the name is fab too. I can't wait to tell my friends I had Hemp balls. My brothers will say "Hemp has balls?"

For breakfast I am with Dee and folks with the sprouted grain toast. I sometime add pecan butter. If my morning chemo is turning my stomach, the pecan butter and toast is the only thing that works. I too have my juices at lunch with salads, etc. Dinner is probably 1/2 cooked an 1/2 raw. maybe more juice throughout the day. Also agave and lemon for the best drink hot or cold. Sometimes on a special morning, I will make 'raw stuff' which is named by my kid. It's basically, a crushed date, sesame seeds, some dried coconut, some nuts, cinnamon and almond milk, maybe some dried fruits or an apple too. It's lovely!

Can anyone tell me what cold pressed oils are???
And when these are heated, do they loose their nutritional value?

Also, since beans (like kidney, garbanzo) are considered a starch,
does this mean that they are as difficult to digest as a pasta or other starch?
I love them and can eat them a can at a time, but don't want to clog myself!

Any hints?? Thanks. I'm a novice.

Okay...I'm not sure I am totally right about this but here is what I know (or what I think I know)...

Cold pressed refers to the way the oil is expelled. Other methods of expelling the oil heat it up and destroy all the 'good' stuff. Cold pressed is a method that 'presses' the oil out, but without getting above a certain temperature-leaving all the good things in for you to eat! So when you are buying any kind of oil, just look for it to say 'cold pressed' on the bottle. I know thats probably not the best explanation but I hope it helps a little!!

I like to sprout buckwheat, and eat that like a cereal with ground flaxseed, some fruit and /or nuts, you can also limit the fruit, I use just a little as i also try to limit sugar. I add raw almond milk or sometimes veg.juice. One time I put all of the above in half a coconut shell and ate the coconut flesh with it, It was YUM, I will do it more often once i find an easy way to crack open those shells first thing in the morning. Then you can also use the coconut water as milk or drink it seperately, very refreshing. Enjoy

I usually do the Green Lemonade(my own version) from Natalia Rose's book, then 30 min after, I do some fruit. I used to start the java maker immediately upon waking and soy bacon and peanutbutter toast(which is killer by the way). I really like this new fruit plan, and I'm usually raw until lunch80/20 and sometimes raw until dinner 80/20 raw food first then a sweet potato or spinach curryYUM I love to create in the kitchen
