My father-in-law, Grey, has been battling lung cancer for the past year. His health has declined in the past few weeks and is no longer receiving treatment. It is not looking good. Jason and I just bought one way tickets to Mississippi to be with his family. Grey is the most wonderful friend, in-law, father and husband. Please pray for our family, especially my MIL, Jann who in addition to supporting Grey is battling pancreatic cancer. Please wrap your loving arms around Jann so she can continue to have the strength to heal. http://my.crazysexylife.com/profile/JannFerris
Thank you Rebecca for this post and for the wonderful photos of your wedding! What a perfect day that was. Grey and I watched a cd full of photos of the wedding today. It brought back precious memories. As Grey's condition has declined, more and more family have gathered. He is surrounded by people who love him and that gives him great comfort. But he can't wait to see Rebecca and Jason and Lylen (our daughter), Michael, Nathan and Ruby (grandkids) this weekend. Thanks also to all of you who have responded to this post. Your prayers and positive energy help me more than you know. The CSL family is pretty special. I haven't been as communicative lately due to Grey's needs. Besides, I am loathe to leave his side. Although sometimes I have to fight for a seat beside him! Every moment is precious, as you all know so keenly. Never miss an opportunity to share your love or to offer forgiveness. DO IT NOW!
Rebecca and Jann....what a beautiful family you have. Thank you for sharing a small slice of your lives with us. You all are in my thoughts and prayers...may peace guide you through...we are here for love and support. xo Sherry
Rebecca, your post has brought tears to my eyes. Just when I think it's safe to be so close to this kind of story again. Nope. I feel so sad for you. I understand your situation, your pain, better than I would like. I lost my FIL to cancer 2 months ago. He had sarcoma that went to his lungs. It's such a painful part of life, but I will be praying for you and Grey and the rest of your family, that you will find some peace in this mess. Some light in this darkness. May your hearts be filled to the brim with love for oneanother. Hold eachother close and don't let go.
Hi everyone, Thank you over and over for continuing to keep Jann and Grey in your thoughts and prayers. Jason and I spent the past week tying up loose ends in New York. We sublet our apartment, Jason left his job, we sent the cats to kitty summer camp at my parents. We're leaving town tonight. Grey and Jann seem to be in good spirits. There has been a steady stream of cousins, siblings and friends to the farm to visit with them. And the other day Grey was able to get out and go to his mother's home for breakfast. His mother lives right next door on the farm and every single day for the past several decades, Grey would wake up at 5, have breakfast with Grannie and head out in his truck to take care of the cows. I know that was a special day.
Jann's health is holding steady and we pray that it continues that way. She is an incredible trooper with an indomitable spirit. Oh, and by the way, I hope everyone realizes that the above picture is Grey and Jann walking Jason down the aisle on our wedding day. Jann looks radiant in that dress! I hope nobody mistook her for the bride - she's just that gorgeous!
I will give you an update when we get to Mississippi.
