I'm 40 and have multiple sclerosis. My body has been riddled with so many steroids over the past four years that I now have diabetes. Does anyone know of a good diabetic diet? I am still navigating this site to find the fasting diet, and all other food information. If you can put me in the right direction I would GREATLY appreciate it. Thanks!
Mia
I think this book is called The Diabetes Cure...I'm sure if you do a search on Amazon for his name it will come up. It's basically a raw/living foods diet. You can check out The Life Lounge-there are various food/juicing oriented discussions. You might also want to check out some of the recent posts on Kris' blog...see the link with the image on the right hand side of every page. And you can check out the Cleanse Fast group. Hope that helps.
I have several of G Cousen's books and they are all great, but in addition to the Diabetes Cure, check out the Rainbow Green Live Foods book. It's got great info and recipes.
In the past 4.5 months I have been working towards 80/20 raw... some days great and other days not so great. My blood sugar has dropped about 20 points. Yep... 20 points. I was often right at 100, and now I'm between 74 and 84. It gets easier and easier as time goes by. The Stevia tastes better and better. I started with more agave rather than sugar, then moved into the Stevia. (Truthfully, my last dudeman is named Steve, and I think I just don't want to keep saying 'Stevia'... if you know what I mean.)
Laugh along the way... it's going to be fun I promise.
Good ideas from everyone.. also, Raw for 30 days is a doc done at tree of life, about curing diabetes through raw foods, juicing and other healing methods.
follow the raw veggie/nut/seeds path, you cannot go wrong!

Hi Mia,
I also know someone who cured herself of MS through a raw diet. She said it took like a week and all her symptoms began disappearing, and she had severe symptoms before.

WOW! Thanks for all the GREAT info. My MS symptoms are also pretty severe so I'm glad to know that the diet change helped your friend. I am easing into this, but in the past two days I've done pretty well. I need to get a Vitamix for sure! Again, thanks so much. Have only found this website three days ago and am already hooked. What wonderful people you all are!!!! Anyone live in Indiana?
Hi Mia and welcome! I don't have much knowledge on diabetes, but both my mom and my aunt (her sister) have been battling MS for 30 plus years. Are steroids your primary treatment? Are you looking for alternative treatments or have you tried any of the drugs that have been offered? Don't want to get too personal on the discussion if it makes you uncomfortable, so send me an email if you'd like to discuss this in more detail. Changing your diet can only help...of that much I am certain.
i have a friend who was working with a guy- i don't really know what to call him, but he specializes in getting diabetics off insulin. it totally worked. my friend was able to go completely off insulin, but the diet was so restrictive that he didn't keep it up and gradually has had to go back on insulin
