My Crazy Sexy Life

Going veg has been great on my waste line and amazing for my overall health, but not so great for my closet. With the exception of a few cool designers I'm stuck in crunchy granola-ville. However, the times they are a changing. The Green revolution has flooded the market with new sexy stylish choices. AMEN! Now let's work on the real cause of global warming and not just jump on the accessories. Yet....I WANT THE ACCESSORIES TOO. What's a girl to do?

Share your favorite fashion designers, especially vegan shoes! If I can find some vegan shoes that are cozy and lovable I will personally make you dinner. FOR REAL. :)

Also, how do you guys feel about the leather you've had since before going veg. I'm torn. I realize you all aren't veg heads but you can still chime in. I'm at the stage where if I already owned the belt I'm not gonna toss it. Is that hypocritical? I do get afraid to wear ethically touchy items on TV. I'm controversial enough!

Here are a few shoe companies to get the juices flowing...

Mink Shoes (these are HOT)
Moo Shoes
Alternative Outfitters
VegShoes

Clothing:

Check out my friend Jenny's company Loyale - love it!

Here is an eye-opening article on vegan clothing from treehugger: Vegan Clothing Explained Just to warn you, its disturbing to read about the treatment of the animals.

I would like to give my closet a vegan makeover (piece by piece!).

Here is a list of vegan and vegetarian clothing companies

Happy Shopping!

I am surprised to see at Alternative Outfitters that the prices are comparable to similar non-veg items.

WOW! Your right the Mink Shoes are HOT HOT HOT!
I have to admit that I have a pair of Kickin Hot Ostrich boots that were a graduation gift to me from my parents. I love these boots and I refuse to give them up, is that horrible of me?

while i LOVE so many of these items I try NOT to buy new clothes.
In my attempt to be kind to the earth and no contribute to over consuming and yada yada yada I only buy a second hand stores, thrift stores and Loooove the occasional clothes swap! reducing & reusing.
I highly recommend organizing a clothes swap with you babe friends. they're a blast!

Vintage all the way! Yes. Hard with the shoes though. Donna Karan also makes a line called PURE. I'm gonna keep this thread alive as long as possible - we need to know! Banana Republic just came out with a green line but I think it's pretty boring - snore.

I've always been a snore with my closet. I would love to branch out and start expressing myself through some eco-friendly threads:)

I'm with e.b. - reuse what you or others have. Yeah, I know this doesn't work for shoes! With 3 teens, all driving, 2 off to college in a few months, auto insurance costs up, gas prices up, food prices way up........I pretty much ALWAYS put my needs dead last. My splurges have to come in the form of wheatgrass powder, organic fruits/vegs, etc. I wish I could afford to eat healthy, much less wear stylish footwear ;-) Also, since I'm 5'1", 90 lbs and 47 years old.....nothing "stylish" fits! I usually buy a few things a year at a teen consignment store (picture this older woman wearing abercrombie size 0 super low rise jeans!!!)
Sigh......someday I might look "normal"!!

What an interesting question....
Where I'm at right now, I'd say it's not about perfection. If you have shoes you love that don't fit the general philosophy you're aiming for, let yourself off the hook a bit. It' all about the choices you make from now on and about living your life too. I'd say most of the people on this board are already doing more for themselves and the planet than a lot of the population...so, if you've got sexy ass shoes you love that aren't Veg...wear 'um. Just keep looking for the some that float your crazy, sexy boat that do fit your Veg lifestyle. Either way, you're bringing awareness with your attitude or your footware. You can't lose!
