My Crazy Sexy Life

Hi everyone! I've put coconut oil on my shopping list. Can anyone recommend their favorite coconut oil for a body moisturizer? How about for consumption?

I use spectrum essentials for body oil. I got it at my WFM, for about 10 bucks. I keep the jar in the shower with me to soften it up.

I got one on sale in the food oil section of our health food store. I can't remember the brand. I mostly use it on my body but I take a dip and eat it plain from time to time. I also put some in my great dane's food every once in a while and he loves it too, and I use it as a coat conditioner for him. It's the only coat conditioner I have ever used on him that he doesn't protest, usually he hates the smell of anything 'fake.'

I just realized I didn't answer your question, so I looked and the brand I got is Spectrum too.

I use Spectrum for body after shower, but the best I have found for consumption is Artisana. Yum with a capital "Y"!!!!!

Thanks guys. I bought Artisana. Can I put that type on my body too?

I use both Spectrum and Nutiva for cooking and moisturizing. I take a couple of scoops, put it in a plastic baggie and throw it in the shower to melt...then you're ready to go!

Spectrum keeps coming up. I'll have to get that one too.

I use Nutiva Organic Coconut Oil. You can get a big jar for $24 at WF or your local organic grocer. Kris recommended this brand to me and I love it.

Nutiva - I can get a 15 oz jar for $15 locally or I can buy 54 oz online for about $28 including the shipping (or I think I saw a gallon 64oz for $40.) So I can't see the sense in buying it locally again...not like it's made locally anyway...
netrition.com or rawreform's amazon storefront (it's cheaper on amazon's site than it is on her own site I think)

Sorry 128oz (not 64oz in a gallon....) for $44 so 35 cents per oz.

Hi Hilary,

I noticed today that I also have a Nutiva bottle in my pantry. I LOVE the prices you provided and will definitely be looking them up om amazon - Thanks for the great info on that!

I'll make it easier for those two sources I mentioned:

I tried another brand in the past but it wasn't even comparable to the nutiva brand of coconut oil. I don't even know which brand it was but I like the nutiva so much I probably won't try any other any time soon. Nutiva is cold pressed (104 degrees) and not let to sit out for days and days before being pressed like some of the other brands. The nutiva has flavor and smells like coconut but the other one I had tried did not.

I would love to hear what other brands people are using and what they think of them. Does the Spectrum coconut oil smell like coconut?
