Hep-C

My husband Mark has Hep-C and has had it since 2000 that we know of medically. He contracted it during one of his numerous surgeries in life. He had endurred 3 rounds of Peg-Intron/Interferon therapy to no avail. He was diagnosed in stage two in 2001 and has been unwilling to take another liver biopsy because he would reather not know when his number is getting closer. I respect his decision and now I am going through Carcinoid Cancer Stage IIIA. Due to his round of therapy it really has helped him be empathetic to my needs and I his. When we said for better or worse we really meant it!!! I love him to pieces!!!

Permalink Reply by Lori on March 3, 2008 at 11:38am: My Aunt, who really wasn't my Aunt but demanded she was (which I gladly accepted) had Hep-C. She was a bit of a wild-child in her teens (early 70's) and unfortunately ended up with that awful infection. I found myself questioning every higher power there was because it was like they took the kindest person and gave her a rotten hand to deal with. She lived an amazing life and her husband loved her every day of it, their bond seems similar to the one you speak of.

I admire the bond between you and your husband and have nothing but respect for families willing to take anything head-on in this manner. You seem like a very strong person.; ▶ Reply to This

I also have HCV...1a here. Your hubby is a strong man to have made it through three rounds of TX! He may be a non-responder, but on the positive side, his liver had that much more time to heal. I've heard of many people that have had improvements in grading/staging even though they were non-responders.
