About Me:
I'm a SURVIVOR!!! I'm young, vibrant and vital and I'm gonna be there for my kids' grandkids someday! I was diagnosed with liposarcoma while pregnant with my son (Truman, who's a very healthy 2-year old) and went throught the whole gamut of treatment including multiple surgeries, chemo, and radiation as well as several alternative therapies. I'm now working on my overall health and wellness and I'm eager to learn more about how to extend my warranty, if you know what I mean. My husband Dave and I are working hard to make a great life together. I am SO proud of him and how he helped our family get through my treatment. Dave is awesome and I'm so glad he's mine! We're devout Christians and we have leaned on our faith and God's provision to get us through all of our struggles of the past few years. We continually seek His guidance to be in His will in all things. Kris's film came at a really special time in my life when I was looking to get out of my remission rut and really kick-start my new wellness plan, so THANK YOU KRIS!!! (In case you don't know what a remission rut is, it's when you start to take your health for granted and slip away from the diligence and tenacity that got you through treatment to begin with. It's a dangerous place to be and I don't ever want to go there again.) I look forward to all the wonderful things that will come from my being a part of this forum. God bless you all in your search for wellness!!!!!!!

False Alarm, I guess?

Well, according to my G.O. my worries over my CT were all for naught. I guess everything is okay, we just have to watch it. I'll be getting another scan in a few months, so we'll know more then for sure. He congratulated me for being almost 2 years out from my surgery. WOW I didn't really realize it had been that long. It's amazing how much time flies when you're on narcotics ;) He says the swelling I'm experiencing, while painful and worrisome to me, is actually normal and not an indication of… Continue

Today is the day!

Every day I wake up thinking that this will be the day I will finally get my act together. Well...it never really works out the way I envision it. But I am doing a little more each day to improve myself. That's all I can do...work on ME. I'm eating a little better, moving a little more, stressing a little less and that's what counts. If I look at where I am now compared to where I was 8 or 12 months ago...or even 8 years ago...WOW what a difference. I am definitely growing. Today is the day when… Continue

I am so proud to call you family, and I want to thank you for always taking the time to forge a special connection with me; you always made sure I knew that you loved me, and that makes such a difference to me! I love you too, and I look forward to seeing you soon (this summer... grandpa's 90th?) I send all my love to Dave and Truman also!

Hey girl...long time no talk to! How are you doin? I just love that The Holy Bible is your favorite book! Do you just open it up to whatever and just read or do you read through a book at a time? I really need to spend time in The Word when I'm not in the hospital!

Just want to add that you can modify the qigong movements to your needs and flexibility level. It's helped me get back in shape after years of sedentary lifestyle. You can really feel the energy, tingleness and just energized after doing a small 20-40 minute movement session. :):)

Hi Hannah! Kateri is of Native American origin. It's actually my nickname. My real name is Karen! Qigong is part of Chinese Traditional Energy Medicine. It's the health form of Tai Chi. Basically, it's slow movements synchronized to breathing.. a kinda mindfulness meditation. Anyone can do it, it can be done at any fitness level, even laying down!! No difficult movements. It's easy to do, no special equipment needed. A form of walking qigong called Guo Lin qigong is said to have cured the founders metastasized ovarian cancer. Here is a demonstration. I highly recommend the Fransico and Daisy lee Garipoli qigong DVD tapes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ncHziAUvM8I
