Today has been such a lovely surprise. Dear friends paid a surprise visit this morning. Two, I haven't seen for such a long time! It was wonderful to chat and catch up. Isn't it true that with real friends, you just seem to pick up where you left off. It doesn't matter how much time has elapsed.
As for kids, well, I think if your children have grown into kind empathetic people, consider it a job well done.
Cuba is a country of such beauty and contrasts! The people are definitely poor by our standards. I can think of many non-communist countries that are, so that is not an issue for me.
The Cuban people are friendly, hard working and proud. I have never heard them argue or belittle each other and racism does not exist there. They have free education and health care. You rarely, if ever, hear of a tourist being harmed in any way. (not like Mexico) Yes, tourism is a huge source of income for Cuba. Canadians and Europeans love it. I would love for them to have a more affluent life, but hope that it can be done without McDonalds, Starbucks or beachfront condos. Cuba has offshore oil. I wonder who will befriend them? Whew! I can go on and on.......get carried away!
Curious, what have you done in your past that was so hard on your body? Did I read something about motorcycles? My fella has done some motocross.
Yes, nothing like a hot bath/shower. I have been considering yoga even though getting down on the floor is a slow process. For now, I just need to get my ass out the door and walk!!!
So nice to hear from you as well.

Deborah,
I just noticed that you had replied to me again yesterday! I've never been to Cuba. I know U.S. citizens go there sometimes, but since there are hard feeling between the two countries, it had never been a consideration for a visit for me. I personally don't have any hard feelings. WHY IN
THE WORLD CAN'T THE WORLD GET ALONG? Sad state of affairs..... So many people I talk to here, go there to visit. It's like going to Hawaii or something I think, without the Hula Girls..... Hee, Hee.....
I'm praying for the people of Cuba to be able to have more freedoms, and in question, the ability to have a better life style. I am confused about the reality of their communistic life style. I'm soooooo used to living where I want, eating what I want, (having it available at the grocery store anytime), Using the internet to speak to whomever I want to, call whomever I want to, work where I want to, (If I can qualify or get the job before someone else does), and, well, I really don't know how it all actually works out for the folks there. I've met a couple of people here, who are from there. It's quite a different life for sure. I do hear it is quite beautiful on the beach area where the visitors go to vacation. I love the Spanish and South American Culture! Maybe I'll be able to visit there myself one day.
It's nice to meet someone who lives so close to me. Maybe we'll meet one day? I just saw a note below that you have a young person, 24? I have two sons, one is 20, the other 28. Evan lives in Durango, Colorado, and Justin in Sedona, Arizona. Ah, the trials and tribulations and pure JOY! of having kids! And what a ride it has been! They are doing well, doing their own things. Two different fellows.....But both very kind. And to me, seem to be way out there too. Youth.........
I joined the autoimmune group, because of my interest in this area. There is so much that goes on in our bodies that is related to our immune system. Wether it is pumped up and strong, or we struggle with constant, something, bringing us down. I have osteoarthritis now, in my 50's, I know it isn't an autoimmune disease....But I have had herpes cold sores (since I was in gradeschool), that stem from a virus that attacks when the immune system is down. I've been working on that. And having fewer and fewer episodes. I hate the feeling. OUch! It's so hard in our polluted world to keep our bodies strong. You never know when an opportunistic germ of some sort will attach itself to you. (Not to be paranoid)
I know the idea is to stay as strong as you can. I'm not a medical professional, so I don't know all the info.... I've had so many good friends that have been struggling with MS, Rhuematoid Arthritis, AIDS, and other autoimmune diseases. I like to know what works best for them. There is a lot of info out there it seems.
Warmer weather sure helps......Have to keep moving those bones around. In my case, I moved mine too much and caused some injuries to the joints. I have chronic, in the background, pain all day and night. I go to sleep with a microwaveable heat bag. Hot showers, and a lot of stretching exercises. I don't do everything I should and not consistantly in the stretching department.
Hey, I better close out this message for now. I tend to get going sometimes. Fast with the typing.
Bye for now.
So good to hear from you,
Hope you are well today!
God Bless,
Debbie

I am sure Lanae can make room for two in Arizona. LOL
Remicade/humira/enbrel is crazy expensive down here too. i am on disability from my arthritis and on medicade which covers it thank god, but the reason i ended up on disability was because when I was working i had crappy insurance and could not AFFORD to be on the medications I needed. Its a pretty tangled web.
I am sorry to hear about your daughter. I am sure things will straighten out for her soon. 24 is a tough age, just being independent and wanting to do things her way I bet. Don't worry. She will come around. And I will add her to my prayer list.
My computer died yesterday so I wont be online much until I can get that straightened away. I am using my daughters laptop but as you know teenagers can be sort of stingy with their "stuff". haha.
hugs to you

HI!
I really do love most of the weather here in Guelph (and Canada)....
If it weren't for my husband and his work here, I perhaps would not have chosen to leave the warmth and familiarity of my home town. It's pretty awesome!
Since I like getting out and exploring, we do that as much as possible. My Hubby likes that as well.
You're just down the road from me. We went to a couple of fun, outdoor arts and crafts and music venues there this past summer. Really enjoyed that a lot!
I'll most likely have to get a break during part of our winter. Hopefully, it won't last tooooooooo Loooooonnnngggggg! :)

Hi Deborah, glad to know you too. Sorry it took me a bit to get back to you; I've been on here intermittently this week -- my daughter has been busy with soccer playoffs and both my boys have started hockey. Something you might know about in Canada, eh? LOL

When I follow a healthier diet (more raw fruits and veggies) I DO feel better with my Rheumatoid. I have been in a bit of a funk with it lately, but honestly feel much better when I am eating better. I see your youngest has Crohns. IF you follow a similar diet to hers (NO GLUTEN) I believe you will feel MUCH better. Also tomatoes tend to cause inflammation w/arthritis so try to avoid those and see if those little changes make a difference.

I have been on Humira and Embrel prior to Remicade. I had some success with both but am having far better luck with the Remicade (inflammation wise and pain wise). I have had some weird side effects; like nausea and fatigue however so I am hoping to counteract those by lifestyle changes (mostly diet).

Great to meet you. Did you join the Autoimmune group here yet?

blessings,
Vicki C.

Well hello there Grandma... Get used to hearing THAT ONE!

Yes, that pic is the first race I ever ran... about 7 months after a major abdominal surgery on my liver and 1 year from my kidney removal... I put the picture up to remind me that I have two more races coming up that I need to prepare for.

I never win a race.... but I feel like a winner with every step (except for the first few hundred steps actually--- those ones are terribly difficult!)

Hi Deborah --

Take it from me, it's so great being a grandma! It's the great light of my life, that's for sure. It's especially fabulous when other aspects of your life are a bit . . . complicated.

I see we are the same astrological sign whose name I don't want to mention.

Love your hibiscus.
