About Me:: Thyroid cancer 1981, breast cancer 2007. Done with chemo, rads, on tamoxifen.

The rest of my life consists of my husband and my cat - both of whom are wonderful and very supportive of me. I was laid off from my job two weeks before my diagnosis and have since been working a great part time job but need more so am job hunting for something more between doctor appointments.

My (not so) wonderful week

In thinking about it, my week was not so wonderful. I actually got out with friends and did fun things but that completely exhausted me and I am still recovering. Two doctor appointments - one definitely going to have surgery and the other says I am okay but still wants a 3 month follow up. I guess what really bummed me out is my husband is away since last Saturday and wont be back for two more weeks. I talked to my sister and parents this week and none bothered to ask how I was doing or what's…

No I am not stressed! HAH!

Its 445AM and I am up and at my computer. I already cleaned my office. 9 am is my appointment with the surgeon. Now I am getting all concerned that what if its not just gall stones, my grandfather died from gall bladder cancer. Or what if its not just straightforward and has some kind of complication in there. I get myself all worked up before doctor appointments now. I think I need to learn to handle this better. But since I am up so early, I will make a cup of coffee and go for a walk, when th…

And my mother just told me

In addition to all the stress I give my mother, her oldest friend - she is 78 and they have been friends since third grade - who has had colon cancer, and breast cancer, and now a second bc diagnosis - is having a mastectomy before the end of the month. Her husband predeceased her. Not a lot of family around. I tried to explain to my mother tonight how much having a drain really sucks and that after a mastectomy you could very well have more than one. My mother wasn't around much for me. I hope…

I hate my gall bladder

Well I really hate my gall stone. It hurts. Its uncomfortable. The different foods I can eat without pain or rushing to the bathroom is greatly diminishing. I wanted to wait on surgery until the end of September but may not be able to.

Its farmer's market day!

Today I am off to the local farmer's market to see what new and weird vegetables I can find. Its still a little early in the season around here but the assortment is growing every week.

I used to love spending time in the kitchen cooking (I used to cook for mom), but anymore it's such a chore. Especially for one person, i'm trying to get over and just get on back in there. Since i've started incorporating more raw into my diet... i find that I am spending more time in the kitchen...so this is good. :)
