About Me:: I'm functionally dysfunctional, predictably unpredictable, and semi-content with that. I am still trying to figure out who I am, but can't seem to focus on myself long enough to accomplish this goal. I love to learn and I am a huge fan of conspiracy theories and raunchy things. I'm not paranoid, but not a trusting person when it comes to the Government.

I enjoy reading Augusten Burroughs books, and also pick up David Sedaris books if I need a dose of nasty. I have an unholy collection of health-related books, and rely on my Encyclopedia of Healing Foods.

I've recently started Artemisinin and I hate it, I may change my views on it next week when I'm done throwing it up.

I'm in a relationship and have been for quite some time. He is my best friend and I am madly in love with him and sometimes have thoughts of wishing he had someone who was healthier than I am.

My mother has a degenerative disc disorder and is currently stuck with a non-working neuro-stimulator implant in her back. My father's recently underwent robotic surgery for cancer. I have been given too many diagnoses to list off right now. I have two dogs that I adore and find to be better than most people I know.

I hate insurance companies and sugar substitutes.

I laugh at myself a lot.

I Was Told There'd Be Cake!

To cover the obvious, I have been on a 2+ month hiatus. I decided I am more important than my health. I know, that sounds weird. So My Doctor Went Alternative....

and I am not sure where that leaves me. Well, short of feeling like I'm up a shit creek and even if I had paddles my bones hurt too much to use them. It wasn't even 6 months ago I was told I'd have a long road ahead of me and when I asked if I could try alternative routes, I was told by this very doctor there wasn't scientific evidence to back up it's effectiveness thus making it too risky for me to try given the severity of my infection and that it has caused neurological damage. I was just reading your post on a discussion from April in which you talked about regular SBO and surgery on an annual basis for adhesions. That topic scares the crap (no pun intended) out of me,

I had an emergency c-section 8 years ago without any problems. Then in August a malignant ovarain tumor was found and removed. But less than two weeks after that surgery, I had SBO and was readmitted to hospital with an NG tube up my nose. For a week, they order daily abdomenal x-rays to see if SBO was improving, but it hadn't so they opened me up again 1 week after being re-admitted and broke up NUMEROS adhesions and wrapped my intestines/bowels in something called Seprafilm. I've been home for over a week and a half after the second stay and I stay in tune with my stomach to make sure it's soft. I have a scar from my pubic bone up to just below the sternum and can accept when pain is right around that. But today I've had more pain further outside the incision area that concerns me because now I'm always worried about adhesions. But I guess it could be other parts of my abdominal wall healing up.

How do deal with the repeated adhesions and annual surgeries? I really feel for you. Are they signs you look for? Are you diong better than in April - I sure hope so...
