I'm Pregnant!

Jenny,
I have not had that experience but a dear friend had an unplanned pregnancy at the same time she found out her cancer had returned. She was told to terminate her pregnancy but refused. She has a beautiful little girl, healthy as can be ... she is the joy of her life ... a true miracle baby. She celebrated her first birthday last month. I pray your little one will grow and thrive and be an amazing blessing in your life. Congratulations!

Statistically I am doomed.

I looked up your aunt's story. She was truly touched by God and healed. What an amazing story!

Statistically I am doomed.

Lorri,
Thanks so much for posting this link. The message was awesome! I send it on to some of my other cancer friends. Glad you are feeling better. May you have strength for the journey and many rainbows and joys in life. - Cindy

UPDATE FOR: Prayers Needed For a New Rivendell Healing House Surgeon ~ Surgery Consult This Wed AM STAT

Hey Bren, I'll be praying for successful surgery. It seems like you get more than your share of troubles but like the Everready Bunny you keep going and going and going. Love you, Cindy

Statistically I am doomed.

Hey Hopalong,
Try to avoid statistics. When I was first diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer, I started reading. It was doomsday all over the internet. I stopped reading. I have resigned myself to the fact that my cancer is not going anywhere but it is not growing either. I want to live in the now - not in a worry of tomorrow. Each day is precious. Live it to the fullest, do everything in your power to get well, and remember statistics are only an average. Some people did much better but they don't show you that. I pray that peace will reign in your mind. Happy healing my friend. Keep fighting the good fight and stay away from statistics.

About Me:
Welcome to my page!

In 2007 I was diagnosed with Stage IV pancreatic cancer. Mine is a rare form called neuroendocrine tumors. There is more information about this on my blog "My Cancer Story" - "the beginning" and "my journey so far."

I am married to a wonderful man and we have three children - two sons, ages 25 and 16 and one daughter, 21.

My Christian faith is very important to me. God has been very good to me and I am very thankful to Him for the miracles I have seen and the strength He gives me.

I am very excited to meet others who share in this rocky road called cancer. I have found this website to be a great resource for support and encouragement. Glad to meet you!

My Inspiration

But now, this is what the Lord says - he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed you: I have summoned you by name: you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you: and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned: the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy one of Israel, your Savior. Isaiah 43:1-3

My Cancer Journey - Back from Zion, Oct. '08

I have much to be thankful for. The scans showed no tumor growth and only mild activity. Guess the monsters are sleeping. The hospital is buzzing with excitement about the way this new chemo pill, Nexavar, is working in my body. The most exciting part is that I can continue on this med for years if it works. Initially, it caused numerous side effects. My body has adjusted and side effects are at a minimum and very manageable. I also saw my naturopath and am getting back on the bandwagon with su… Continue

When I think about all we have been through it is crazy but we are stronger, better people for it. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't wish it on anyone but I can acknowledge it and learn from it in a positive way. I have been so deeply involved in my husband's fight that I don't really think about or try to remember what I went through. I am great and thankful for my recovery and health and I know it helps me to understand what my husband goes through b/c my recovery was long and took a tremendous amount of confidence and will and belief in myself that I could do it. I also was told that it could come back without warning so I was scared for a year that that would happen. I was on death's doorstep and walked away. It is a shot of reality. Life becomes more about what is important than what is petty and meaningless. That is how we both live now. Spare us the drama we just want to live our lives as simply and as happy and healthy as possible. We have not given up our dreams and wants for the future and we are thankful for each day. It is too bad that it takes something like cancer and almost kicking the bucket to come to that place but many people live that false reality and it does take a major life event to tweak the senses and the mind.
My best to your brother and you.

Hello,
He does have adenocarcinoma. I never spell that right. Gemzar is the chemo he is on. We are thrilled with his progress. We see the doctor Monday. I will keep you posted. Thank you for the info. Best wishes to you. I am glad to know that Nexavar is working for you. We haven't met anyone with pancreatic cancer so it is so nice to have a place to communicate with others that understand. The positivity and good outcomes are so reassuring and comforting. Thank you!

Hi,
I am pretty new to this website, love it, and am looking at everyone's profile. My husband has stage 4 pancreatic cancer with liver mets. He was diagnosed last December. He does chemo 2 weeks on 2 weeks off and is on Tarceva (a targeted therapy pill) and many supplements. He is amazing and doing great. His tumor markers started off at 5068 I beleive and as of October they are 213. We also see a naturopath. I will have to ask his oncologist about Nexavar. Do you know if it is just for the neuroendecrine type tumors? Have a very happy Thanksgiving. Miracles happen evey day glad to hear one came your way. More are on the way!

I am so happy to hear you are strong and up and about. A couple of good women from our gym group came over Saturday and we had several hours of solid prayer. I feel so strong when they are here and then weak again when they leave. I wish I could stay in that strength. I guess with time I will. I just keep battling.

We had some light snow today, but it didn't stick. With Jered in the golf business he is hoping we don't get any all winter (except maybe for Christmas)!

I stopped the herceptin treatments because my heart function has dropped so much. I made it halfway through the year long treatment and I think that was plenty. If it was going to do any good it should have already done it. So now we just see the dr every once in a while and get tests every 6 months or so. I'll talk to you soon.

Love

Thank you so much for your prayers and support. I havent been a member here long. I am really only here because my daughter thought I could benefit and so I followed her here. I am learning that it helps to have some support during the rough times, thats for sure. Thank you again.
