About Me:: Where do I begin? Well I had a pretty normal life growing up in the 80's, graduated high school, went right on to college and graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 2001. I was engaged in 2003 and married in October 2004. I was getting ready to start the American Dream. I landed my dream job in April 2005 and May 26, 2005 changed my life forever. I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma Stage IVb. I went through six months of chemotherapy only to be told my tumors were still growing. I had two more months of chemo and then an autologous stem cell transplant. Five weeks after transplant my tumors were growing again. I had 21 rounds of radiation. After that my tumors were still growing. My care was then transferred to Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts. The search was on for a donor for an allogeneic stem cell transplant. Two more months of chemo. November 2006 stem cells received. March 2007 a new tumor is found behind my stomach. Put on large doses of immunosuppresants. I start having symptoms of graft vs. host disease. It develops in my eyes, mouth, and skin. July 2007 breathing becomes labored. I am diagnosed with bronchiole obliterans in my lungs. September I am put on oxygen at home. I start clinical trials since the steroid Prednisone isn't helping. I had Rituxan chemotherapy. I tried Gleevac chemotherapy. I started Photopheresis in October 2007 and Ebrel shots. February 2008 my team decides that I am not benefiting from these trials. At this point I need to focus on the quality of my life. I am pretty much housebound. I can't go out in public (I haven't since November 2006) because I don't have an immune system. I can barely walk five feet because my breathing is so labored. I am on oxygen 24/7 and need a wheelchair if I am to go anywhere. Yes, my life is forever changed but I am living it with pride. I have a web page I created and my mission is to reach out to others and help them learn about Hodgkins Disease and GVHD. I love to listen to others and give support. My best friend, Beth, is a cancer warrior babe. I love her so much. She got me on this site. Beth is an inspiration to me. I love you Soul Sista!!

I hope you are doing OK. I pray for you all the time. I'm having surgery on Monday and I don't have a laptop so I probably won't be online for about a week or so. I was so stupid buying this desktop computer last year. WHY didn't I buy a laptop!
