Hi Lillet, I know how stressful and difficult it is to tell your children about your diagnosis. It was one of the hardest things I had to do. I highly recommend that you join the Crazy Sexy Hot Mam... Read More »

Marti - I tried the beets once and couldn't stand the taste so they were out for me. Most days I use kale, parsley, dandelions, celery or bok choy, a few baby carrots, cucumbers, broccoli, lemon an... Read More »

I'm still feeling under it all, but trying to get back to folks. What I'd really like is to have like 2 weeks off of everything, so I could catch up on things & get at least part of my plate cleared....you know, like hit the PAUSE button...we know that's not going to happen! ;-)
Springer is still slowly getting better, but he's starting to itch more, which kinda suggests that the drugs may be wearing off...he's been on every other day at this point. We'll check with the vet in about a week. Tomorrow, more catch up. Hope you have a good day planned tomorrow. Thanks for stoppin by angel.
xoxo Michalene

Love you!
Goony
I'd love to see more of Phil. It is so cool....we drove all around & saw A LOT, but from teh bus except for the things I told you we did.
If your free for treatment let me know...the center is about 15 mins from downtown...I love all the murals too!
Well, I am now a patient at CTCA! They certainly knocked my socks off there! I will start a new type of chemo on Tuesday.
My 3 days were filled with appt.s and I wouldn't have had time to meet w/ you. I did go on the hospital's shuttle tour on Tues. eve. Philly is one gorgeous place! Me & my friend did the Rocky stairs and went to Jum's for a cheesesteak that was out of this world! Other than that it was all CTCA.
If you ever want to come there & hang with me during my chemo I'll be going almost weekly for the next few months. You could check the place out & we could hang out and have luch while I get my treatment...they will bring any food you want to you during treatment there!
Thanks for the support & I hope we get to meet!
As for the enema discussion - if anything those pics made me want to cleanse even more! I would love to start, just not sure if I have the stomach for it... As for Clint - I can pick up on the humor!
Talk to you soon!
;-)
thanks for asking
it was a kind of horror! the doctor told me he could not travel, his leg was going gangrene, they were going to put him on a morphine drip, he had 1 1/2 wks to live tops.
his cousin & mom decided we would just tell him he was going to mexico, keep stalling and once they put him on the drip, it would be a moot point and he'd die fairly soon
i just couldn't live with that
then his cousin visited him and called me and said "you were right. he should go." boy, do i wish i had had her support in april when i got him accepted into oasis of hope. all she did was go on about how those mexican clinics might be snake oil (unlike the great treatments he's had here!) and it was too risky for him to move. i gotta tell you, it was way less risky 2 months ago!
he hired a traveling nurse and asked someone to buy him some clothes so there was no being deceptive at that point
i took friday morning off from work, went to the hospice and told the doctor that he was leaving. she wrote up prescriptions. the nurse came to learn the ropes
the drivers went out to get the van only to find that since he had put the deposit on his credit card, he had to pick it up- a guy near death in a hospice, not happening!
i was devastated and couldn't even tell him
meanwhile they scoured around and found another RV, took a car service out to linden, NJ to get it and parked it in a lot in harlem
on saturday, we all met at the hospice. the RV bed was uncomfortable so i ran out and bought some foam and soft body pillows. they got off about 1:00
they stopped in phoenix on monday morning where his parents visited him for 10 minutes and his brother joined the trip
they arrived at the clinic about 9:00pm mexico time and he was really worse for wear. two of the doctors did not see how he could survive more than another day or two
but by tuesday afternoon, he came to. they've now done blood work and started the first round of treatment today. everyone is decidedly more optimistic
his cousin will go down next week. he'll buy an international cell phone and then we'll be able to reach him
i hear that he's eating and watching "as good as it gets"
still in pain but coping
they were testing his leg today, i think
his mom who hasn't really been involved at all is suddenly calling me everyday with updates. i think his illness has been abstract to her and seeing her youngest child all shrunken and skeletal made it real. she told me she cried for hours after he left
now that he's gone, i've gotten calls from 3 people at the hospice- rabbi, chaplain and caseworker, each telling me how happy they were that he got out, how grateful they were to me for helping and asking me to keep them posted as to his progress
kinda makes you wonder why he was put there in the first place and why he was kept there for 4 1/2 months
trapped in the system!
