How are you & your family doing? You have been in my prayers & I hope things are getting sorted out in your favor with the ped. onc.
Lots of LOVE to you all!
CML in kids is pretty darned rare - accounts for only 5% of the pediatric leukemia cases. Says in kids its characterized by an enlarged spleen, HIgh white count (mostly neutrophils and other granulocytes) and high platelets. other symptoms are fatigue, weakness headaches irritability feversn night sweats and bone pain.
Morg had ALL - (most common type) and she started with these weirdo random fevers and then pretty intense pain in her hip (which we attributed to "growing pains" or a sports injury) until it got so severe she crawled to me on her hands and knees at 3 a.m. screaming in pain - SCARY AS HECK!!). From the first symptom to diagnosis was only about 3 weeks. Acute Leukemias progress very rapidly...CML in kids can take years (from what I read).
I cannot seem to find where I filed morgans early bloodwork (thought it was in her notebook darnit but the earliest labs in there were 2/06 grr...) but I will find them (I am a woman on a mission...lol - I have no patience either!)
Regardless, HANG IN THERE! I know this waiting has to be driving you nuts...but from what you've told me (and trust me, I am a count-hound...I even make them give me mine now...lol) it certainly doesn't sound like one of the Acute Leukemias to me. I am really puzzled how he'd pull leukemia out of those lab results. Sounds more like anemia to me.
HUGS to you....
Vicki
