At 10:35pm on March 7, 2008, Christine said…: My favorite thing to tell my patients, which I hope doesn't sound trite coming from someone who doesn't actually HAVE cancer, is something that Lance Armstrong said in his first book.. that every time he got sick-- vomiting, diarrhea, whatever-- he told himself that that was the cancer leaving his body. I believe wholehearedly that attitude is everything, so whatever you can do to stay positive is essential. And sense of humor is #1, which it looks like you have in spades! :-)

I have a friend/patient who had the same disease you have, stage 4, who also underwent chemo followed by an autologous stem-cell transplant. He is now in full remission and doing amazingly well- I actually haven't seen him in some time, but that's because he doesn't have to come into the office for scans or follow-ups! Keep your chin up- it's difficult, but it's worth it in the end. Remember, the chemo that kicks your ass the worst does that because it's going to cure you. :-)
