I am in Hickory NC. Just wondering if you can recommend any plastic surgeons for reconstruction. I had bilat mastectomy 5 weeks ago. I chose to wait on reconstruction because I wanted my body to heal. Just finished my chemo last week. I have plenty of time to research doctors. I did see a PS before the mastectomy in Hickory and he said I would not be a candidate for tram flap. Apparently I don't have enough abd fat. Who would have thought???

Any suggestions would be very beneficial.

Also, thanks for the name of your surgeon. I was the same way at first, of not wanting reconstruction. I was thinking I don't want to go through the healing process again, but as time goes by I'm starting to reconsider. You are definitely right, I'm tired of the lop-sidedness and also tired of wearing the prosthetic.

At 9:14am on March 5, 2008, Pam said…: Hi Karin. That is weird, same date for our mastectomy. I am being treated at a place called Regional Cancer Care in north Durham. The physician is a former Duke doctor, James Hathorn. I really like him and his team. I had a PET scan the end of Jan. and found out Feb. 1 that my liver shows NO activity. I was and am very happy about that! Who is your plastic surgeon? I have seen a plastic surgeon just to talk, but I haven't set anything up. I will probably wait a while before I do.

I work in the business world and so much IQ is wasted on chasing filthy lucre--you doctors make SUCH a difference. Tell your husband that if he ever sees Roy or Bill Piscatello that Joan the waitress who used to write in the manager's diary documenting the daily Breadmen's events in 1979-80 said he should give him a free bluecheese burger because I said so!
