About Me:: Not sure where to start. I am a mother, wife, care giver and student. I came to this town in search of some good vibes to get me through the tough days. I am the daughter to a man who lost his battle with lung cancer and I just need a lil help to get through all the wreckage that cancer has caused in my life. I am also interested in learning more about the veggie way of life. Right now my diet consists of anything I want and I know that some day it will catch up to me. I look forward to meeting some great people and maybe learning a thing or two. I am also walking in the Philadelphia Breast Cancer 3 Day. What's your personal mission statement?: Ha! Never really thought about it. I will work on that. I guess to answer right now I would say that I will strive to be the best person I can be. Plain and simple.

At 12:30pm on April 14, 2008, Stephanie said…: You hit it right on the head. This is a particularly tough week. My father passed away almost a month ago and I am getting married on Saturday. When he was diagnosed we had already planned pretty much everything and he refused to see anything changed because of him..he was strong and going to make it. But, it wasn't meant to be. That is why I joined this group too. Its hard (as you know) and all I feel like doing sometimes is staying in bed, but I haven't given in yet. I have to lecture today and finish the wedding stuff with mom (who is a wreck to put it mildly) all to put on an emmy-worthy show on Saturday. We will get through it...and I am always here. Smile today. You miss your dad so much because he was great! That is something to be thankful for.

My only solace is found in the fact that he isn't suffering anymore...but he was so wonderful and upbeat and witty right until the end. Such a wonderful man.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I have a younger, half brother that couldn't deal with the yucky stuff and I, too had to be the one to be there for Dad. Glad to "meet" you. Welcome to Crazy, Sexy Town. I too was drawn to this community looking for help dealing with the death of my father. He died in May of last year after fighting cancer of unknown primary (CUP) something I had never heard of until my dad's diagnosis. I have been looking for all kinds of ways to redefine my life without my father. I am married and the mother of two daughters who were very close to my dad. It was so hard to be strong for them, be strong for my mother, and just get through the day. I love your quote, what a great way to think about the hard times in life. By the way....She's Come Undone is one of my favorites too. Have you read I Know This Much is True, also by Wally Lamb? Looking forward to getting to "know" you better.....Cheryl
