About Me:: I am a two time cancer survivor, having been diagnosed and treated with chemo and surgery for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma 11 years ago; and am currently at home recovering from a radical hysterectomy recommended for treatment of cervical cancer, which the surgeon thinks happened because my immune system was suppressed after the intense chemo 11 years ago. That second cancer diagnosis was so different from the first-so much scarier, even though it was a more "curable'form of cancer. I couldn't believe it happened again, after taking such good care of myself those 11 years ago.Go figure.I think it's all an individual genetic luck of the draw-what about those folks who smoke, drink and live it up without any major health setbacks, into old age/(my dad was one of them).And here I am, basically a health nut, and I get cancer-twice.Anyway, Kris' book was given to me by a friend when I was diagnosed back in December, and I was really uplifted by her humorous and heartfelt approach. I am trying to live that way, one day at a time, and keep believing that the sun keeps on shining and my attitude is a choice.I love to sing,write songs, play piano, hang with my friends, cook, yoga, read and dream about what I want to be when I grow up, now that my kid went off to college. Sadly my boyfriend did not make it with me all the way through my second canSwer recovery-BUTT-I have many crazy, funny and amazing friends and I really look forward to meeting some new ones here!

Hey all you gorgeous crazy sexy survivors!!!!
I am so happy to share the good news of another perfectly clear PET scan-this one even better than the last one, which was also canswer-free, with a few weird acting cells...BUTT.....those little boogers are nowhere to be seen now!!! Just health happy cells! I attribute this to those daily morning green shakes and the raw life-even though I consume some cooked food too-but mostly veggies!
I am so thankful to Kris Carr for her inspiration and example!!!

I haven't updated here for so long. Here's the story so far........... I had an abnormal pap smear in Sept. 2006.The doctor said we’ll do another one in three months and see if it’s normal then, as often happens.Three months later it was still abnormal. At 9:44am on August 16, 2008, Betsy said…: Carolina Theater in Durham is probably the nicest - one of these old movie theaters fixed up for concerts, etc. Good acoustics, ambiance, etc. Then there's the Cat's Cradle in Carrboro - it's pretty funky, but gets great artists and Carrboro is really cool little town right next to CH - sort of a suburb. But very artsy, hippie-ish. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help - pretty close to both these places. Would love to show you around too.

I also loved living in Nashville, especially having access to music all the time - the local artists. After than moved to Knoxville for grad school and ended up staying there for 17 years. So in terms of where I've lived, TN is more home than anywhere else. although I love Chapel Hill - very progressive and good access to arts here too. I'm hoping you come here soon to perform - would be very cool. and I could probably gather a sizeable group to come see you!

I'm in my last month or so of chemo (5 weeks) and have a quarter inch of white hair - hoping it comes back like yours! Also just read Eat, Love, Pray - it was great. And lived in Nashville after college - on Music Row (did I get this right, where you live?). And am a pisces. need to check out your music - sounds wonderful. Hope we can get a SE get-together soon, would love to many in this great group.
