Profile Information

About Me:
My mother is the strongest, most beautiful and intellectual woman I have ever known. She is extremely intelligent, bright, loving, and compassionate in everything she says or does and I wouldn't want any other mother in the world than her. Although this tradgedy has fallen over hers and our family's head, there is no doubt in my mind that my mother will overcome any battle--including this one-- that could ever bring us down. I love her with all my heart, inside and out, and my brothers and I are so incredibly lucky to have her as a trusting, beloved mother. I wouldn't want it any other way. God has blessed me and my family with so many things, and I'll continue to pray for this rainstorm to clear over and for him to guide us all the way back home. I love you Mom, Sincerely Taylor.

Wow! Where do I start? Well before being diagnosed on August 14th (obviously a pivotal life-altering event) I was an avid Tiathlete, proactive single mother of three, little league taxi driver and fan, Army Airborne vet (MI !st leuitenant resigned in a past-life) Securities Advisor, and dog lover. Still all of those identities but of course Im still reeling from recent diagnosis. Never having touched a drug in my life and basically living my life vigilantly with regard to my health Ive gone from denial to shock to perplexity. I have stage 3 colon cancer and underwent surgery 2 weeks ago to remove a tumor and my ovary which apparently was cancerous. Two lymph nodes were affected and i am meeting with my assigned Oncologist
next week to start the chemotherapy "process" are there any "newbies" out there? Seasoned young mothers who can offer any advice, encouragement etc? Trying to keep focused and positive moving forward on this unexpected adventure. Trying not to overwhelm myself with too much information and opinion- need friends i can bond with who have been through this journey or are about to go. Feel very alone and a bit scared. I bought Kris's book and it made me laugh between my tears! Loved it! Im a cowgirl at heart so we relate!

Happy Thanksgiving.....and soup

Wow-cycle 3 brought me to my knees! Had breathing issues with the demon bastard oxy- but I wont let it get the best of me! Rough 8 days- I keep thinking "what is normal again?" anyway cold has a whole new meaning for me. Trying to remain calm, centered, what a joke! How many pity parties can one person have? Ill never accept this- its a temporary hiccup and Im going to kill it forever! (you go warrior princess!) Thanksgiving was spent in bed but my awesome boyfriend made a Turkey dinner with tri… Continue

Broken in

I apologize for being so tardy with the blogs- the chemo has burned my left arm vein and I was unable to write (yes a southpaw) much less had an inclination to engage in anything mobile. It lasted past the 6-12 hour window I was told and did not seem to totally be gone for six days. Another lovely side effect. That and the diarrea prompted the oncologist and her peer to immediately suggest a port but I am not ready to do that. Ive had enough invasiveness to last me for awhile and if it no longer… Continue

We really had our heart set on Ladera but it was hard to find something without power lines in the back yard (which I'm sure you're familiar with). The one home we found was great, but just bad timing and bank owned and a total PITA to deal with.

This home is great and I love this area. It's loaded with kids, too. My son was only bummed because he wanted to use the skate park in Ladera, hehe. There's some creepy fog here, I have noticed.

I like feeling 'away from it all'. The ocean isn't that far, and living in the mountains feels so nice. The views are amazing and I love the long drive on Oso, it's better to look at hills than big tall buildings.

I'm from the midwest, so I really missed things like...trees.

...sorry to hear you have to go all of this. but maybe it will mean a whole lot less needlesticks? Thanks for the encouragement that you give me. It humbles me...just expressing my heart and what comes out, comes out...here's a song for the both of us..let's let the queen of rock say it for us and lets sit on the couch and hold hands. I'm with you in spirit and when you go in, feel my thumb touching yours...thumbkisses to you from Rivendell, you are not alone...gentle hugs..love ya, Bren

Hi Michelle, my prayers are with you while you are going through chemo......I did not have chemo, just radiation. Follow up colonoscopy soon. Can't wait, lol.....I am sorry to hear that you are having problems and they want to put in a port. I have no experience with this, but I know there are those here who have. You will find the answers you seek. I am loving Kris's site because of the information shared, and questions that come up that we can use to ask our drs. They don't know all, but need them. Happy Holidays, to you and your family. I am going up to Portland, OR to my brother's with my folks, so I will be gone almost a week. Will try to log in up there. I can't wait to go, love it up there. He is now in his instructor course for yoga!!
Peace, love, and many prayers to you, take care of you!
Laurie
