Thank you for the support. I met with my surgeon last week. He is 95% sure he can reconstruct and the illeostomy will only be temporary. He said probably until next March. I have been crying every day I just can not seem to get ready for it mentally. YOur words of support and encouragment are great
thank you
Deborah
I was diagnosed with stage III rectal cancer 9 years ago! I am surviving and will continue to survive!
I remember the tremendous fear. I couldn't go a day without being afraid. I would wake up in the morning and feel happy and then I'd remember.
It will get better! Of course you have fear, it is a very human feeling. It will get better though. Time will help. I must admit that even after 9 years I still have a little fear that will sneak up on me.
YOU ARE A SURVIVOR!
Nice to meet you and glad to hear you are done with treatment! That's great!! Wishing you a grrrreat summer with lots to celebrate!
My partner is going thru the same thing. We just finished 28 radiation treatments with chemo. On Tuesday we saw the surgeon and he wants to see Sid in three weeks (but he will be on vacation so closer to 4) and do a scope at that time to check the tumor...and now he's saying surgery won't be till August. If you are willing will you share your time line with me. I am stuck on "4 to 6" weeks after treatment the surgery will happen. That's what I remember hearing previous to treatment and now when things change I get nervous.
Take care,
Vivian
ps.. you and I look like twins!! LOL's (I hope to get a picture up soon)
