This is my story.

Profile Information

About Me:: I am an ambitious person! I was diagnosed with Parosteal Osteosarcoma in 2002, the year that I graduated from highschool. There is not much that the doctors could tell me, as they are unsure exactly how to handle/control this cancer. They surgically removed the tumor that was protruding from my bone. Three years later it returned and was larger yet. Another surgery performed. It has been a continual battle of waiting and watching. Due to the location of the incision, I now have RSD, due to severe nerve damage. It's a daily battle to keep myself positive and find the good in my life.
This year, I was diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid cancer, and they removed the right side of my thyroid. Shortly thereafter I moved out of state to be closer to my fiance. The relationship fell through, and I have not received the proper medical attention here. Since July I have been on a downward slope, trying to hold on with all the strength I can muster. I have not worked since the beginning of July. No answers at this point.

Despite what I have been diagnosed with and deal with on a daily basis. I strive to keep a positive outlook on life. Though it can be very hard, especially when you hear doctor after doctor tell you they are not sure.
Everyone has bumps in their road of life. These are mine. And I truly believe that it is how you approach each "bump in the road", as to how you will succeed.
I find peace in my hobbies. I enjoy cooking and baking so much to the point that I am thinking about going to a culinary school.
I graduated from college with a degree as a Professional Photographer. I have my own business on the side.
Taking pictures is the best therapy there is for me. To hide behind a camera and allow my emotions to flow over into the picture that I am capturing the the best sensation I know.

I am always looking for more advice and more knowledge regarding my cancers and ideas as to what I can do to help myself.

I am a very healthy eater. I don't eat out, but maybe once a month. I eat plenty of raw vegetables and fruits. I try to only by organic foods. I can thank my mom for teaching me the proper healthy way to eat.

I am back in Iowa. Trying to get adjusted and settled in. No one told me that it was going to be so freakin cold here!!! I have frantically been fighting off the flu/cold that is going around these parts. With no immune system, I will be SOL if I get sick. funny, I was sure I had written you after you wrote me the lovely message and while I was having an afternoon nap, it came up in a dream that I hadn't - sure enough my dream was right!!

I am so glad to hear you are back home. How are you doing??

I have extended my stay in Chile until Monday Nov 10. My 21 yr old daughter, left Tuesday for a university class in Ecuador, but my 19 yr old daughter had been delayed in bolivia. She finally arrived yesterday (the day I was to leave) with her new Bolivian boyfriend!!!

My son was having issues as well - some of it I think because he is 14 and felt left out in all of his big sister's adventures. He was desperate to come home with me but after some very tough talks, he is really happy to be staying and is now seeing all of the advantages of living/experiencing another couple months of his life with his Chilean friends. He gets to go surfing on weekends! Like this is not ordinary!!! Tomorrow night he is going to a 15th Birthday Ball - tux's, gowns, catered, music, entertainment - the whole kit and kaboodle! It is very big down here! So I am staying to continue the dialogue with him and make sure he is here in Chile %100. I miss my kids like crazy when I am home but this is an experience of a lifetime for all 3. My 19 yr old, Joelle, will be home in a month, my son, Stephane, in 2 months, and Chantal in 4 months.

I really look forward to hearing more of how you are doing, and how your new job is going!

BTW I had never noticed your photographs before - WOW. You do lovely work. Is this a passion for you?
