my double mastectomy was november 20, 2008. it was the most amazing experience. not one single scary or horrible thing i heard about happened to me. the isotope injection for the sentinel node biopsy was nothing like i had heard on one of the boards here. i received four separate injections instead of one; maybe that's why it wasn't so bad. i had a little back pain after surgery, but that was all. i was home within 24 hours. had no swelling, very little bruising, and i needed the drains for only 4 days. the doctor said that's because i was thin, in good shape, a vegetarian, and active before surgery. i'm so grateful. i love my flat chest! six days after surgery, i could drive, go to work, do everything i did before. my dr removed only 2 lymph nodes, which were both negative, so i have full range of motion of both arms. i am so amazed at how stress-free and easy this surgery was. it feels like a dream i had, not a real experience. my two grown sons took care of me, and now my house is quiet again, i'm back to my regular life - with no bras! i have always wanted a flat chest - i love my new body! i will meet with my oncologists the first week of december 2008 to discuss radiation and chemo. there are several women i've met on the CSC boards who helped me so much through this process, and i am so grateful for them and thankful for kris carr for creating this website. thank you, everyone here at crazy sexy cancer. xoxox

Hey, if you or your friend can share anything about her tattooing, I would greatly appreciate it! Where? Was it 3D? Did she feel it? Did she also do the nipple thing? (I have pretty much decided against it totally, but still appreciate feeback). Any suggestions pre-procedure? Etc, Etc.
You are amazing darling.....BTW, do you mind if I ask what your first name is?

I would definitely inquire about the Oncotype DX test to determine the aggressive of your cancer (only used for BC). It is a tool that you and the onc use to determine if chemo would be beneficial or harmful to you. Did you say you were triple negative? IF so, then this test would not be applicable, but I would inquire about any "new" tests available anyway. This was originally not covered by insurance and was expensive, but it was soooo worth it. There is some information on it on a couple link you can find on my blog (right had margin btw the "Grow Organics" pic and the "Education not Medication" pic!)
