About Me:: As an OB/GYN physician, artist, and writer, it's only natural that I ended up working on the Woman Inside project, an art project in which I cast the torsoes of breast cancer survivors in plaster, then paint them with pigmented beeswax. In addition, I interview these women about who they are INSIDE- how they define their crazy sexy selves and who they REALLY are.

I've been working on the project for three years and it will be unveiled in Galveston, TX in 2009 and Boston, MA in 2010 (in October, for breast cancer awareness month). I am still recruiting volunteers, so if any of you live in California (I'm in Monterey but can travel), please contact me! The women I've casted tell me the process is very healing, sort of spa-like. I know it's been AMAZING for me to meet these beautiful, courageous, spunky, sexy gals who have the most kickin' attitudes and lust for life.

As an OB/GYN, I practice holistic gynecology and am reading everything I can get my hands on to learn more about what they completely failed to teach us in med school. Kudos to Kris Carr for raising awareness and bonding us in Crazy Sexyness!

Wow, I cant believe we missed each other in San Diego. I know that i get isolated with all the scripps people and end up now knowing the MDs in town outside of that. I graduated from Mercy residency program in 1999 and know a number of my buddy's who got jobs at Sharp but i dont know if you would have ever met any of them.
Anyway, i am definately curious about your project. I am a definately a right brained person stuck in left brained world and I really admire anyone who can create something meaningful and beautiful. I hope I can be a part of it in some small way.

I am an Internist living and working in San Diego ca so not too far from you really. I wanted to say Hi and introduce myself. I was diagnosed in Aug with stage 2 triple negative breast ca and have had a lumpectomy and started chemo last week. i think your project sounds amazing and I would love to hear more about it. PLUS i love Brian Andreas and actually bought a print of the quote you referenced for a good friend of mine last year. Hes one of my favorite writers/poets ever!

welcome and thank you for joining the breast cancer group. love your project, it reminded me that i once plaster cast myself in college - just one breast and arm - the same breast i later had cancer in?!? i live in los angeles - do you want people who have undergone reconstruction? i would love to be part of your art project. . .
