So, I had the biopsy of the thyroid nodule and it came back "atypical" and so the surgeon wants to take it and the right half of the thyroid out. Of course I may wake up with the whole thyroid out if the initial pathology during surgery comes back bad.
I am trying to hold the fear down.......it is just that I am SO sick to death of surgery and medical crap. I have had a mastectomy ( one each during the last two years ) and now this. I am the biggest baby ever when it comes to medical stuff.
I am scared to read any bad stories of surgery or anything but I would like to ask one question and I really want the truth even if it IS not good..........what is it like to have the drain in yuor neck and what is it like to get it out the next day?
Thank you SO much for writing.

I just saw your page here and was looking for words of comfort if you have any.
I am a two time breast cancer survivor and this past week I was told I "probably" have thyroid cancer.........
I don't know anything for sure yet until I see the surgeon but I am in the big "WHY ME?" stage............
I just want to kow that you are okay and there is life after breast AND thyroid cancer.
I am just scared out of my wits.........
Hugs, Daria

I wanted to share a project I'm working on for a video documentary of breast cancer survivors. It will be done in the Washington, DC Metro area. Let me know if you're interested. You can also email me at maimah@tigerlilyfoundation.org.
