Happy Day!

Today didn't start off too well as I actually got a bit annoyed with a cancer SURVIVOR :-0 I was at my ballet class and was offered advice which I wasn't really up for and I thought we'd finished the conversation but she brought it up again after the class had started. I don't want to think about cancer at ballet, it's my favourite time of week for switching off from all of that, I really have to , as my ballet skills aren't all that yet and I have to concentrate... But anyway I have a week's su… Continue

More glass half full..

Today I sort of got my scan results. The scan was done the day the oncologists come to the island but it wasn't completed before they left. My oncology nurse has told me today that the masses/mets are a bit bigger, but until the oncologist sees the scans themselves we won't be able to make a decision on further treatment. That will be next Thursday. The good news is that now the tumours are proving to be 'chemo-resistant' I'll be allowed to go on a spanky new drug that has had good results. The… Continue

Scan Day

Toady was scan day, almost a relief to get it over with. Initially I felt quite cheery and went alone-if Tom took a day off for every procedure he wouldn't work much...Anyway afterwards I was driving along home feeling a bit sorry for myself (came via the farmer's market for a v.healthy dinner to compensate for my post traumatic scan brownie) and I was having a chat with God saying 'if i was still living in Manchester I would have met up with my sister or any one of my friends from my old church… Continue

Scan scared

Well, I have two more days in blissful ignorance before my CT on Thursday may well have me back on the chemo treadmill again. I'm so hoping not. Because I wasn't due to be scanned before late December I had taken on a couple of concerts and I'm worried about blowing them out. Had a fab rehearsal today, I'm a bout to record a rough draft of my CD next week- very exciting-chemo would not be my preferred treatment at the mo... Playing such lovely music has to be good for my health. I'm still a bit… Continue

Holiday!!!!!!!!?

haven't posted anything for a while due to chemo holiday. My mets haven't gone, but have gone down. The oncologist has promised a groovy new drug but I can't have it until the tumours start growing again. I feel like a ticking time bomb...physically quite normal but it' seems a little like a long chess game with cancer as the opponent. When will the next move be? We're due to go away tomorrow for the first time in ages. Very exciting, although we've had one ferry cancelled already due to bad wea… Continue

HI Priscilla, I am off to the hospital again today to get TPN started. My onc said I am not strong enough for another treatment unless I am nutritionally sound. I have had a few bad days, pain and nausea, since my last tx. which seems to be a function of my cancer more than the chemo. Keep me in your prayers. Hope you are well, Judy

How lovely - I took ballet for years - from the age of 3 until young adult. I also did tap dance and later Folk dance. Now, I enjoy just being free to dance whatever my body wishes to dance - my favourite place to dance is on a beach! It is good for the soul! Good for you for going for it and taking the lessons. I think that is awesome!
I see you play cello. I played violin and always wanted to play the cello - love the resonance of the instrument! I just downloaded a CD by Julien Lloyd Webber doing his brother's works on cello - lovely!

I look forward to hearing what you are adding to your list!
love and hugs
Sandra

PS I'm leaving Chile this evening for a 24 hour trip home (8 of those hours will be sitting in airports!). I leave with mixed emotions - sad to leave my children, happy to be walking into the arms of my partner!

Priscilla, do add lots to your list. So good and nourishing to have time without the children. I am curious, you mention a ballet class somewhere. Did you just begin? or did you go back to it?

Oh, it is beautiful there! Thanks for the heads up as I would have missed them. And when were you in Paris - one of my favourite cities in the world. I love love love Paris! and I'm not a big city kind of gal. There is just a "je ne sais pas quoi" - bien oui! J'adore Paris et j'aime bien parler en francais!

Priscilla,
You are going to get through all this. We are about the same age. I am 36. Part of my maintenance therapy is chemically induced menopause, so there are days I am pretty low, days I am a basket case, days I am happy, positive, love everyone, and days I want to drop kick the next person who asks me whats wrong :)

In a nut shell, a crazy sexy cancer survivor with an attitude :)

Its going to be good to chat with you. Take care, and fear the unknown, embrace it. If God brings you to it, he'll get you through it.
How does that scripture go??? "He did not promise a trouble free life, he promised us grace to endure the troubled times." something like that anyway.

Blessings and hugs,

Jenny M

Hello Priscilla, Just happened across your bio and saw that you come from the isle of man. My ancestors came from there 4 generations ago - or that is what they have us believing. Where are you going for holidays? I am in South America at the moment!

Blessings

Hey Friend, It's so nice to hear from you. Isle of Man sounds like paradise. I hope you post some pictures for us so we can see the beauty!

Michigan is in the upper United States. If you look at a US map our state is shaped like a mitten. People around here can put up a hand and show about where they live. There is a lower and upper peninsula divided by the Great Lakes. I guess you would call Michigan a seasonal state. We are far enough north to get snowy winter, beautiful fall colors, warm summers, and exciting spring weather where the earth comes alive after winter. There are many lakes throughout Michigan and so it really is a vacation haven.

So good to talk to you! Isn't it so great to get to know people from all over our world??
