About Me:
On March 6, 2008 my life partner was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. We finally started treatment on May 1. He has finished his first round of chemo and 28 radiation treatments. We have seen the surgeon and he wants to do a scope on July 15th to see how the tumor has reacted to the treatment. Well its the eve of July 15th we saw the surgeon today. Our appointment was at 12:30 and he saw us at 3:00 so we were anxious as can be!! He did not perform a scope but did a hand exam. He thinks the tumor has gone down and assures us that while we are waiting for surgery that the radiation and chemo will continue to shrink the tumor. That puts Sid at ease because he as well as I like to know that we are not just waiting again. Since we waited so long to start treatment we had lots of time to worry and then worry some more. A nurse at Cancer Care told me once we started treatment our anxieties should go down. She was right! It has been a very scarry time in our lives, but we have also had time to be very thankful. We try to keep positive! Some days are easier than others (every now and then a good cry is needed).

So surgery will take place this Thursday August 14, 2008. We are to arrive at the hospital at 6:15 and surgery will be at 07:45. We are thankful that it will be early.

How is Sid doing? I know you had a little set back late last week, so I hope he is feeling better now.
I am heading in for surgery in one week, on 9/3 at Sloan Kettering. So I am feeling more anxious every day, but I am trying to remain strong. The support of all the great people on this site has helped me so much.

hi vivian... i hope sid starts to feel better soon. healing is a slow process. i may start chemo tomorrow but it also may be put off a little. i'm not sure yet :). i have appointments with both my surgeon and my oncologist tomorrow.

Best of luck and courage for these last sessions...it's great when the end is in sight, but it is still long and arduous. Be gentle with yourselves, cry and hold each other when you need to, laugh when you need to. The end will come and afterwards, the renaissance!!

I'll keep your honey Sid and you in my prayers too... sometimes I wish they had an IV drip for us caregivers sometimes too... an IV of extra hugs & kisses? :) Feel free to msg me too when ever you need an ear. I read your "About Me" and totally understand those days when you need just a good cry... take care & God bless you two!

hi vivian.. thanks for the comment :). my surgery went well. it only took about 2 1/2 hours. i was in the hospital for 9 days though because the day i was supposed to be discharged i threw up. bleh. but i'm at my mom's house in connecticut now and all is good! how's everything you you and Sid?

I am thinking back to the tiemm line. I finished the 6 weeks of rad and chemo then had surgery in Dec. It was a 6 week break. Three weeks after surgery I started chemo again. Very quick, i did not think I was ready, but i was. The sooner you start the sooner you finish!!
