A little longer story on my cancer and treatment particulars:
I have a really rare kind of breast cancer, a phyllodes sarcoma tumor (my second because my first surgeon 7 years ago in a small town did not know enough to take clear margins) that was a big 7cm and the DCIS was the toy surprise inside, a mass of 1.5cm. Only 30 documented cases of this, ever. The large breast cancer team at my hospital (which is a very well-respected med school) has 100 years of combined experience just in the surgeons and none of them had ever seen it. The DCIS did not show up on any screening they did before surgery...so the fear was, if I have the type that doesn't show on screens, then that breast could have more somewhere. Even though they got clear margins with the second surgery. My Doc said that my right breast seems to want to grow freaky cancers and she didn't want to take a chance.

It took alot for me to agree to radiation and it was really f#%*&ing hard to go through. I saw a Chinese medicine doc who specializes in cancer and his herbs/acupuncture complimented the radiation. My radiation oncologist was good with that.

Even with ER+ and PR + at 80%, I have decided not to take tamoxifen, the research on that drug does not convince me! I am going to use alternatives to regulating my hormones. The side effects are more than I can accept. My doc is not pushing it and I am seeing a naturapath doc to guide me on the alternatives who is also specializing in breast cancer. Lucky me to live in an area with so many healing choices.

I now eat an all organic, gluten-free omnivore diet, (very low on meat, a little fish and almost no dairy - concentrating on staying alkaline) drink 5 quarts of high Ph water a day (makes the biggest difference in my alkaline status), some fresh veggie juice and supplement with herbs, fish oil & B-vits. I practice reiki with a healing circle, am getting back into a sitting mediation practice and use visualizations for healing. Has two surgeries (partial mastectomy & re-exision) in December 2007, I finished radiation on 3/26/08 and am planning to have a lift/reduce on the "good" side on 12/18/08.

Each woman has to make such a personal choice about the treatment. I personally think that with so many studies conflicting with each other, all you can do in the end is find a doctor that will listen, tune into your own inner wisdom and choose what feels right to you.

I think the best hope is the treatment course that you can most believe in.

Hey Tay... checked out the Alkavision site and I'd like to try them. Some great testimonials on there and with your recommendation I think this is something well worth giving a go. Going to see if any of my local health food stores here in Van carry them, if not will order online. Thanks so much for the lead! Greatly appreciated. Keep pounding down the juice, beautiful. I do reiki also. Finally back meditating again too. Been a while. Feels good. Will be checking out your vids. Love your stuff! - p

Hi Tay. First, gorgeous jewelry and art! Love it! Great page. Thanks for the invite, and yeah, I have been through a lot. And what I've posted isn't even close to the half of it.

I'm really interested in the pH drops. I'll check into that and drop you a line in a few days. Definitely like to chat more about them. I'm also on about a 70-30 split or close to it. Thanks again for the kind words and the "being single" smile. Much appreciated. Bye for now - paul

Thanks for friending me Tay. Your page is beautiful, I love the jewelry. So we both have breast cancer, that sucks! I am here to get some feedback, meet some women like you, and figure out next steps for me and how do I live now. I need to live. I have an 11 y.o. daughter and 13 y.o. son counting on me. Here is my 3 big decisions: Tamoxifen, should i take it, I am taking it right now but I forget almost every day and wake up in the middle of the night thinking oh shit I know I'm forgetting something... Oophorectomy, the oncologists strongly suggests that i would be better able to live a full and happy life without my ovaries. I don't know, I really like my ovaries. Reconstruction: I want it, I don't want it, I want it, it freaks me out. I don't know. I really miss my breasts, they were so much fun, but they were killing me. What to do, what to do? - Shelley

Hi Tay, thanks for the invite. We have a lot in common regarding our choices in treatment and thoughts on listening to our "guts".

Beautiful work!! Love the drawings/paintings.
