About Me:: 16 month urvivor of NSCLC IIIB that has advanced to IV as there has been spread to upper right lobe. Currently being treatd with Alimta + Avastin and have been responding quite well.

I am actively involved in the Twin Cities Lung Foundation, A Breath of Hope, and get great satisfaction from this group.

I went on disability in January but am seriously thinking of returning to work in September.

I have a significant other, a wonderful dog and I live each day to the fullest.

I've had similar instances this past year where something just pops up to help me through a difficult time and I thank God for them. Maybe Copper is your guardian angel.

Amazing how you can wander around our village and find new folks in the same boat. I was diagnoses with IIIB/IV NSCLC in December 2004. Did the carboplatin and Taxol, the radiation, and now am on Alimta. Have been on Alimta since October 2005.
How are you feeling these days? Tell me more about the Breath of Hope.

I am on a leave from work also, and not sure when I will be returning. I have had alot of very nasty side effects from the chemo. More than normal. Can hardly walk, so I don't think I am a good candidate for your group at the moment unfortunately.

I have been participating in a clinical trial at the U of M. Just had my mid way scans, and am thrilled to say that I have had a "profound response", in the words of my oncologist. Lung spots gone. Most of the lymph node tumors are gone. Two remain, but are significantly reduced.

I have also been taken off of two of the more toxic drugs -- Carboplatin and Gemcitibine. Starting next session, I will be infused with Avastin only.
