About Me:: I'm 19, about to turn 20 soon! I live in Melbourne, Australia, and just started university this year. I like reading and writing, going to the movies and hanging out with friends.

Cancer-wise, I was diagnosed with AML mid-way through 2006 in my final year of school. Managed to finish school and treatment in the same week, which was awesome. I decided to take a year off before starting uni to do a bit of travel and work. Turned out to be a wise decision, as I relapsed in July 2007. Underwent more chemo before having a bone marrow transplant with stem cells from my sister. I'm currently 6 months post-transplant and doing pretty well!

I'm looking forward to going overseas in the future. I want to go to either New Zealand or Canada to learn how to snowboard, Ireland to study simply because I love their accents, Nepal, Russia and wherever else beckons!

I'm doing good. Have a treatment tomorrow of mabthera. My second last. I'm getting paranoid of all the mabthera I've had. This will be my 17th. I'm sure I'm so toxic...maybe look into a liver cleanse in a few days. Have never got through one but I'm sure my body is crying for one!

I haven't been checking into this site much, I've gotten more into planet cancer. But I'm still looking. Take care Karen

It is wet and cold by our Queensland standards here in Brisvegas.
It is a great thing that you are finding an interest in Buddhist practice. It fascinates me so intensely. The philosophies are so peaceful and calming. The meditation rocks and just seems to help make sense of the world.
The Tibeten Book of Living and Dying is the best I have come across. I no Buddhist really but I often refer to that book as my bible. I highly recommend it!
Hey I hope to catch you again soon. If I may say so, your picture is so cute...it makes me smile...and that is a good thing.

Then it took her forever to get her bookclub to pick it up. People are funny. I loved the richness of the story--from history to personal events to spirituality. Good read.
