About Me:
I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Breast Cancer when I was 27 years old. Since then, I have had six rounds of chemotherapy, a mastectomy of my right breast, FOUR reconstructive surgeries and fertility treatments to preserve my fertility. Right now, I THINK I am cancer free, but the scary part is never really knowing. Because of my type of cancer, I have no further treatments or follow-up appointments. This makes me feel very frightened and has given me the impetus to do all I can do to ensure I do not have a recurrence. What better way than through diet, exercise and state of mind? Kris has been an absolute inspiration to me and to be quite honest, I worship her!

What a lovely thing to say. Thank you very much! I am certainly not alone in my frustration. I think many of us are just "let go" after our treatment and it is very scary. I think it is very psychologically damaging to many of us who are used to having the support of our medical team throughout our treatment and are then left to fend for ourselves. I am Canadian, so I am really at the mercy of our medical system. I can ask my doctor to send a requisition for a follow up, but nobody will contact me to schedule anything if I don't push and push and push....Argh!

Big hugs and kisses back!

Lou

You truly are a warrior and an inspiration to all. I don't understand why you have no more follow ups just to keep everything in check. Is that normal for them to not schedule follow ups? It would make me a bit nervous also.
Big hugs and kisses,
Michelle

Pugs are just the cutest aren't they?! :)

I am glad to be here too! It's awesome. I've learned so much and I've had the opportunity to share what I've learned. It's really good to meet people like you who have been through similar experiences and are staying strong! I'd love to help you in any way I can, there is so much I had to learn the hard way about this disease.

The best place to get started with Gerson Therapy is http://www.gerson.org/default.asp
A good book to get is "Healing the Gerson Way" by Charlotte Gerson. It is pretty much a full time job to do the full Gerson therapy. But a healthy individual such as yourself can do a modified version, mainly as many juices as you can and mostly raw foods and some supplements. Let me know if you have a hard time finding the book, we have an extra copy and I will give it to you if you are serious about doing the therapy.

Hi Louisa
We've been through a lot of the same things. I had invasive ductal estrogen positive bc for which I had a mastectomy, chemo and recon as well when i was 24. I thought there was no follow up for me but you could have tumor marker tests done. I wish I had. Also, I wish I had been better about my diet and not drank so much. I think stress and excessive drinking really led to my mets. I was terrified of it coming back, I'm sure you are too but you should know that if you do have a recurrence (and I hope you do not) that it is not necessarily a death sentence. I tell you this not because I think it will come back but because, in a lot of ways, my fear of the cancer coming back was actually a worse feeling than knowing it had come back, if that makes any sense. It sounds like you are on a good healthy path and surrounding yourself with others in the same boat and have a great attitude, all keys to staying healthy. I love your mission statement, so true.
