About Me:
I am a 36 year old woman. I had a cancerous tumor in my spine 4 years ago and have just had a reoccurrance and a new spot discovered. I saw the documentary last year and am currently reading the book. What I have is very rare and of course terminal (15-20 yrs, thank God). My kids are one (girl, Olivia) and six (boy, Josh). My husband of 12 years just left me on June 27th. Apparently he has met his soul mate at work and would rather live with her that his family that he says he loves. Go figure. I am a very impatient person by nature...but am learning to let it go.... I am so happy to find this web site. I don't know anyone my age with cancer yet but will be seeking people out soon.

Tammy Garrett

Hi there everyone...

Hi, I am a cancer survivor from 4 years ago and have been upgraded (after a reoccurrance) to someone living with terminal cancer (those damn tumors are persistant little suckers), this is my first time on this site. I started reading Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips and came to this site last night. I am wondering if anyone out there had spinal tumors...specifically Ependymomas. Extremely rare, so would like to hear someone else's story. Thanks Tammy

Hi Tammy. I am so sorry to hear what happened with your husband. You have two beautiful kids to give you the strength to move on. You can do this. You have lots of support here and it really helps to have people around who can relate to your disease. I hope to hear more from you soon! If you need to just talk, to vent, I am one of many I'm sure who will be here for you! Take care, Lexy

Tammy, I just read over your page and wanted to say that I can relate to your situation with your husband. We didn't have kids, but it was much the same type of thing. All I can tell you is that it's ok be angry and it's good to cry when you need to. Eventually I hope you will be able to forgive him. It took me 3 1/2 years to forgive my ex-husband. Now that I have, I realize what a stronger person I am, having gone through that experience. My hope for you is that you will get to that point too, because it feels really wonderful. Take care and go do something wonderful for yourself this weekend!

Well, I think I finally have turned a corner. I did not cry about canSer or my husband today. I had an all in all good day. I love reading Kris's book and have just finished the section about finding your spiritual path...I think Kris is my spiritual leader!!! She rocks. When she was on Oprah and said something close to "worrying is just praying for something to go wrong", it was like she slapped me in the face and woke me up. I am a professional worrier, a 'gift' handed down from the women in my family for generations. We all have it and I had never looked at it in the light that Kris described and I am trying everyday to change my way of thinking. Thanks to Kris.

I am so tired today. I never realized how hard it would be to sleep without the person who has slept next to you for the past 12 years...I am going to bed early tonight. The stress of my husband leaving is not going to help the cancer or my children...trying to let it go. Hopefully mare sleep tonight.

Hi Tammy,
I am from Montreal, and I am currently doing radiation for non-hodgkins lymphoma. I am aged 34, with two daughters ages 3 and 9 months. This will be a great place for you to find LOTS of people your age who have been through this, who are going through this, and who have survived this. Where are you from exactly?
