I saw your questions on Susis's page and just want to add my two cents about Alimta. I have now been on it for 3 years. I have stage 4 lung cancer. I did the carboplatin/taxol first-six rounds. I did lose my hair on that protocol, but not on the Alimta.

The delays have continued. My oncologist/surgeon changed hospitals and the new hospital has been building him an operating room to meet his specs. He does a very different procedure and requires unique equipment. The OR reno has been slow and I am on a day to day wait for the call saying everything is all set up. I will be one of the first to be going in. Thankfully, I feel fab and healthy and confident. They called early this morning and said they are doing the dry run today so hopefully that means that we leave this afternoon.

How are you doing? I wonder often about you.

I leave for Seattle where I will be seeing two oncologists. I am so looking forward to hearing what they have to offer. It has been a long, very long, wait.

Outside of the roller coaster of delays with my onc appts, I feel really good! I miss my children (they are all living in South America until the new year!) but am enjoying time with the love of my life!

Pleural effusion, oh my! I just looked that up. That sounds unplesant. Are they giving you anything for pain or breathing? My prayers go out to you my friend. The Lord is our true healer. Maybe He is trying to get our attention. Well, it worked. :) I know He does everything for a reason. We might not find out why until we get to Heaven. One things for sure is He has a plan. He's always there. This is what gets me through. May He bless you with laughter, strength and understanding in your darkest hours. Much love, Ilisa

Now I'm having a lot of trouble breathing daily. You get it from a prescription from your doctor. I wouldn't say it's alternative medicine tho. You might want to get a humidifer. Use it when you wak up in the morning. That's what I do. Or if you're short on cash, put your shower on hot and close the door. Sit in the steam and breath it in. Let me know if it works or at least helps. I'm here seaking alternative medicine as well, so if you hear anything give me a heads up. We're having a benefit in my town to allow me to pay for a naturalpathic doc. I'm a whole lot harder to take out than it is. Either way, I will not go quietly. I am having quite the trouble breathing. I'm using this nebulizer twice a day and I'm still out of breath.
