So what did YOU learn from a crappy situation?

So I'm just writing for my own sanity...to get all that's been trapped in my head finally out on whatever...just documented somewhere...I think this all stemmed from a doc the other day telling me he was worried about ME...told me I needed to make time for myself, see a counselor and exercise...at which point I spontaneously busted into tears and laughter...(I may or may not have scared him a tad)... You see here's the deal...my wife Katie has this crazy crazy tumor...a miofibroblastic inflamma…

I'm actually a grad student (finishing in December) getting an MFA in fiction writing. I'm revising my novel and teaching English to college students. It's interesting, to say the least. Writing is the real passion, but teaching pays! It's enough to keep me busy anyway. Where in Jersey are you guys? I used to live with my cousin in Oceanport (near Long Branch/Monmouth area) and I loved it there. Red Bank is the coolest town-- reminds me of Portsmouth, NH. I also know some people in Rumson. What brought you to NJ?

Oh! And some music suggestions from me :) Try Anais Mitchell (new to Ani Difranco's record label), Krista Vossler (really good live), and Imogen Heap. Do you know/like any of those?
